Aboriginal Round

From the moment Joey Johnson took the field for Fitzroy in the early 1900s, he became the standard bearer that created a pathway for future generations of Aboriginal kids. Sir Doug Nicholls, forced from a club that he was training with due to racism, laid the foundations for others, showing his people that grit and determination could overcome the obstacle and pain of racism. We marvelled at Big Polly, one of the Stolen Ones who changed the way the game was played. We saw the Krakouer brothers set Waverley alight, and we looked on in awe at perhaps the greatest of them all, Stephen Michael, oh what could have been. We watched as the Aboriginal players of the 70s and 80s were berated, ridiculed and tormented, yet they still turned up week in and week out to play for their clubs. We were there when Nicky took a stand and said ‘no more’ and Michael made the long walk to ensuring that future generations of Aboriginal players did not have to face the wrath of racists both on and off the field. We hung our heads in shame as a champion was booed from the game. We were blessed to see Buddy, Rioli, Lewis, Goodes, Matera, Wanganeen and so many more champions of the game. So, in this Aboriginal Round, stop and reflect on the great contributions that Aboriginal players have made to the game but take a moment to think about those lost to the game due to racism or a lack of understanding of Aboriginal culture. Think about those that pulled on their jumpers every week knowing the torrent of abuse that was ahead.
So now we turn to Supercoach, and like the great spirit dreaming's, let us dream, dream big, dream high and may all your Supercoach dreams come true this weekend.

It's technically there, it's not changing.
He had no way of getting it to the ump directly without waiting and being out of position, gave it to Daicos.
Resulted in zero delay
Not going to argue it can't be paid technically, but take a gander at Serong in the same quarter leave the footy on the ground.
No free, genuine delay.
It's one of the more shocking correct calls you will ever see.
I am not normally a one-eyed umpire basher, happy to ve labelled one here, was absolute frogshit.
The call wasn’t correct. He wasn’t time wasting. Common sense was the correct call.

Umpire audio says “he didn’t hand me the ball” That’s it. Never said anything about time wasting. Petulant campaigner. Plain and simple.

To be clear, it’s not the reason we lost. Yes it swung momentum but like I said earlier, we should’ve still held on. My rant is purely on that call.

8/914 or 8/1046(c) if I take Ryan’s score

Fyfe the biggest let down, had him on the chopping block until Sam Darcy (e) put up 42, so decided to keep Fyfe instead of taking Darcy’s score - not sure it was worth the 14 points 🤦‍♂️

Sheezel, Powell

Walsh, Miller, Flanders, Clohesy, Rogers (e)

Green, Whitfield

Martin

Current projected 2305

7/764.
A few letdowns. Henry, Serong, Jackson.

First time I have put the VC/Con Serong all season. Was bound to happen.

Great stuff from the two Pies rookies.

Unfortunately I took the E off Sully, as I was worried I might have to take a low score from him if Serong went large.

As it is, the opposite happened.

Need to nail my captains pick now.

Sharp not getting upscaled for kicking the behind that helped his team avoid a loss is surprising to me.

Sure, he would have probably gone up 12+ if he'd kicked the winner, but I swear he went from 83 to 82 after the game? If impact on the game is truly at the core of the scoring system you'd expect a few points for the player who had the the most direct effect on the result.

Anyway.

Young good.
Serong unders.
Sharp still a strong rookie score.
Daicos.
Jackson sucked.

Fielded Freijah and Garcia over Richards and Sullivan, so probably about 25 or so points down on an optimal score. Rookies mooing though, so plenty of positives.

Sharp gets ripped every week, runs hard, always offering, crucial goals. Heroic really. Then gets scaled down to give more points to that piss-streak haired seagull Ryan.

BTW, I'm convinced the 'give the ball back' free was a square up for the 'high' contact off the ball against Amiss that gifted Collingwood the lead on the quarter time siren.

Maybe it's just me.. but do you think that theres some funny BUSINESS happening here with umpires circa last qtr?.. maybe keep the viewers/customers engaged..
Meanwhile the fabric of our beautiful game is being slowly eroded? Who knows
Apparently was a clearance 6 minutes earlier where Sidebottom and Serong ended up tangled on the ball. Nicholls said "Steele, pass me the ball" but Sidebottom just walked away. Nicholl's not pleased and as they say "karma's a bitch". Well that's the Freo version. McCrae has form for having his players play on the edge.

Serong's efficiency was poor but like Heeney you have to cut guy's averaging 126 a bit of slack. Thought Jordan was better than Ryan and just lacked influence in the final minutes.

Why oh why did I hold that baked potato Nat Fyfe? Gone at his bye, sidewaysing him to Relton Roberts.

Add in Jackson getting Hodor'ed and my weekend is already over.

I did VC Naicos though, so at least I got something.
Oh and my boy Richards with a ton, even if it's only on my bench. Good lad.

9 already played, another 10 to play today. Make or break day!

Biggest decisions today:
-whether to play Clohesy or Wilson field
-who to captain, currently have Zerrett

What rules Uncle? How often have you seen that free kick paid? Never is the answer. How many times in a game does the player just drop the ball to the ground after a whistle and NOT hand the ball over. All the bloody time is the answer. It was bullsheet. The entire football world knows it.

Top it off, he didn’t even apply the rule correctly because it was obvious to all the player wasn’t time wasting.

Don’t be a Malaka too just stir the pot.
I remember when NRoo called for it against Freo a few years back when it wasn't his free any they called it. Kinda similar but prob worse
