Two years for ROB is fine. It's a Jarryd Lyons offer.

If he gets a better offer elsewhere and leaves, great.

If he signs our insulting el cheapo offer, great (I'm assuming it's not a top tier deal given the length and his age).

He would have been expecting 3 or 4 years on top dollar I'm sure. Take him into the sunset while McAndrew picks up his dry cleaning. This would be a rude awakening and hopefully fires him up.

Interesting that in ROBs FA year we have made a 2 year offer.

That does not sound like things are too promising on the "recruit ROB replacement" part of our offseason.

With his form and being dropped 2 of the previous 3 seasons, and at his age, he couldn’t expect any more than 2 years. It’s a totally unnecessary gift and the best way to fire him up would be to have nothing on the table.

At his age? I doubt he would have been expecting 3 or 4 years, and I doubt the salary being offered is insulting either.

This is not a Jarryd Lyons offer, or a "FO offer" as it was described yesterday.

People forget that he's 29, turning 30 in August. He's not in the prime of his career any more, and clubs offering multi-year deals to players after their 30th birthdays are always asking for trouble.

Even average rucks are in short supply.

It's why the corpse of Goldstein is still rolling around and Doc Clarke ended up playing for St Kilda after being dropped to South Adelaide's reserves and retiring.

We'll soon see.

If he signs it quickly, you're spot on.

If he doesn't, you're not.

It all depends on what he wants to do. There have been rumours that he wants to go to Melbourne to study, preparing for his post-football career. If that's the case, then there's every chance he exercises his FA rights, and it would have nothing to do with Adelaide's offer.

There was another post on the board (I can't remember which thread) which suggested that 2 years was the club's starting position, and that he wanted 3. Don't forget this is just the start of negotiations. It's quite possible he the final contract will be for 3 years.

He's not expecting three though, right?

He'll jump at the 2 years and bite our hand off to sign if you're correct.

No... I said that 2 is a reasonable offer, for a player of his age. You seem to think he's 26 or 27, at which point I agree a longer offer would be expected.

ROB is at a point in his career where longer offers are no longer expected, and where he is (or should be) starting to think about his post-football career. That works 2 ways - on the one hand, it could drive him to leave now (to further his tertiary studies), or it could drive him to want the security of a 3-year contract which would take him through to retirement.

ADELAIDE has tabled a two-year contract extension to Reilly O'Brien on the eve of the 2025 season.

The Crows have been in the market for a long-term replacement for the Victorian in recent years, but are working to keep O'Brien at West Lakes beyond October.

O'Brien hasn't agreed to terms on a new deal just yet and the offer could be extended to three years for the ultra-professional ruckman, who has attracted interest from Geelong in the past and proven to be an important player during Matthew Nicks' time in charge. – Josh Gabelich

Looks as though there is very well a chance it could end up being 3 years depening on the negotiations, with the initial offer at 2.

Was reported this way, that we have offered him 2, pending negotiations could go to 3. Hopefully stays at 2 as a bridge to buy some more time to get that longer term replacement ready to go.

This is why it was important that Milera played.... Come home NWM..... To the crows.... Please

It's very rare for the indigenous lads from opposing teams to not get around each other after games, sorry to pee on your fire but I wouldn't be reading too much into that, they are relatives three times removed or something similar after all.

I'll use anything to convince myself he wants to play for us and not the Pear.

That to me looks like he’s saying, hey NWM the crows have been putting an extra 200k in my account each year, when you come it’s yours.

It was to get Wayne to 100 games.

Now we can claim NWM (THIS YEAR) in the midseason draft under the father son rule.

Pretty sure that’s how it works.
