For those that have watched a bit of Snell so far, any chance he plays a 3rd tall type defender role too? My limited viewing of him, I've been impressed with his athleticism and nimbleness and pace. Would others agree? Hopefully he can, provides more flexibility.

Can definitely develop into it but seems more of a KPD who can rebound IMO

Sheldrick has played the whole game on O’Halloran - it’s been a good contest. Points split.

Cleary has had a few different opponents- but has been pretty good without standing out.

Parker has just done Parker stuff. Lots of Sherrin, not always effective with his disposal.

Campbell and Mitchell just ok-ish.

Francis was good before he got hooked.

Snell did nicely - needs to bulk up but good signs.

Konstanty and Buller both a bit meh.

Hamling playing forward suggests he’s not in the frame for promotion.

Surprise packet was Lugsden - what a game from the little guy!!

Cleary would have debuted in a bottom 10 side. Playing very well.

I really like the look of Snell and Edwards as KPDs. Reckon Edwards could/maybe can take the monsters.

Campbell played inside outside mix. Want him playing HFF/wing with minor stints in the middle

Sheldrick and Parker need to tidy up disposal. A lot of hit and miss which will hurt the best 22.

Green showed a bit, ditto McAndrew

Haven't commented on the reserves much this season as I've generally been watching replays, so a few thoughts;

Francis presumably rested for the last qtr with a view to coming in next week, which is fair enough, but Edwards & Snell did their cases no harm at all today.

Always good (and necessary) to see progression with youngster and that's certainly occurred with Edwards.
Obviously decent in the air, but one of the most pleasing aspects of his game today was his strength in the contest. Had a one and one battle with Keefe (204cm, 100 kg plus) in the goalsquare late 3Q and more than held his own.

Snell doesn't have Gould's booming kick, but his actual defending and footy smarts are far superior.

Thanks to SwansProudly for the Lugsdin profile above.
Only turned 18 late Oct 2003 and in the 3 games he's played at this level has looked comfortable.
Can kick goals, but equally can find space and use the ball. 16 disposals, 4 goals, 3 I50s, good day out
Hope no team with a MSD spot has been watching.

Parker does what he does.
35 disposals, 9 clearances and a goal.
Yep his disposal will never be confused with that of Scott Pendelbury, but a decent committed outing I thought.

Enjoyed watching Cleary and just seems to me to be a player that would be equally at home in the seniors.

Now some brickbats;
Coming into the season I had high hopes for McAndrew to take the next step.
Today again indicated IMO that he's actually gone backward.
Even his 1 wood, in his effective tapwork, isn't up to par at present.

AFAIK no one has me on ignore.
That might be about to change.
Disappointed with Sheldrick today.
His basic stats (27 disposals, 6 clearances, 6 tackles, 9 I50s) look terrific.
However I thought his disposal was staggeringly bad today, get it, get rid of it, seemed to be his motto.
Turned into trouble, put his teammates under pressure and just kicked wildly, far too often straight to GWS players.
And one other annoyance, he seems to have started to throw himself fwd when tackled, without fooling the umpires.
Overall IMO he needs to be far more effective to get back to the AFL team.

Finally I noticed at the start of the 2nd half when the play commenced the score banner was still spread across the middle of the screen.
Underneath another banner referring to AAMI clangers.
Hey, I'm easily amused.

Parker had no problems finding the ball tonight and was tough at the contest as is his usual. However, just didn't look clean getting rid of it, unlike our current AFL on ballers. It could be that he didn't have Chad, Errol, McInerney etc but I just wasn't really impressed. I can't think of any of our mids or half forwards I'd drop for him at this point so I think he will just have to bide his time for now.

On a positive note, Will Green looks like he has excellent potential. I thought he held his ground against a much more developed Nic Madison and also Keefe in the ruck. Showed good mobility and skills around the ground and did some good things forward. I think he has passed McAndrew already.

Lugsdin looks an interesting prospect and wouldn't mind if we pick him up either in MSD if a spot opens up or as a rookie in this year's main draft. There's a Papley like quality to how he does his work, who also started as a rookie pick.

Sydney v Greater Western Sydney

After starting the game in defence, Joel Hamling moved forward and kicked three goals in the Swans' 10-point win, while former Bomber Aaron Francis (17 disposals) held down a key defensive post.

Angus Sheldrick was busy with 27 disposals, six tackles and six clearances, with Caiden Cleary also getting plenty of the ball with 25 touches and a goal.

Cooper Vickery (20 disposals) also kicked one goal, as did Caleb Mitchell (20 disposals) and Jacob Konstanty (8).

Braeden Campbell laid a team-high seven tackles to go with 22 possessions.

Ruckman Lachlan McAndrew had 25 hitouts and nine disposals, and was helped out at the bounces by 18-year-old Will Green with half a dozen taps and 14 touches.

Rookies Will Edwards (18 disposals), Jaiden Magor (16) and Jack Buller (12) all got involved, while Patrick Snell had eight touches.
