You would swap Hayden Young for Ed Allen. Yes Allen has a lot of upside and could be a Sidebottom replacement but a 22 year old Hayden Young for Ed Allen who could want to go home. Also maybe he signed 4 years straight off the bat so Collingwood would have more chips at the trade table?
As long as he is strong in the contest, good clean hands getting the ball out, and can run both ways with some burst or 20+ metre efforts, I don't get the dislike for him.No. No slower than Adams, Mitchell or pendles. That’s never an issue with fin.

So far, very good. Wicked left foot. Is a good runner, got some pace about him, and his leadership skills on field are very evident early. They have been easing the draftees through the first part of pre-season, they do most of the drills until match sim. But I assume that will change starting tomorrow.Sorry for the intrusion but how is Harry DeMattia looking on the track? A very talented junior sportsman
Agree but don’t think Ed has shown much as a winger. As a mid though he looks quite handy. So not sure Sidey at the end has much relevanceWe aren’t offloading ed Allan who we gave confidence in giving him a 4 year contract to. He is part of our long term future.
Especially with Sidey at the end

His first year averaged around 25 disposals as mostly a winger. He only started doing centre bounces later in the season. But at this point he is a winger, who can run, kick goals. It'll be his role early on, while attending some Centre bouncesAgree but don’t think Ed has shown much as a winger. As a mid though he looks quite handy. Who the fk is Hayden Young? If Allen wanted to go home he’d have put his hand up when Schultz requested a trade. We ain’t getting rid of him for anyone. You would swap Hayden Young for Ed Allen. What about Gulden who is out of contract at the end of this year. Maybe we look at Will Hayward who is a free agent at the conclusion of this year. Could be handy up forward at only 25 years old, with Mihocek closer to the end.
Be interesting to see who we target at season’s end or even during the season. We no doubt will be looking at King, Holmes, Smith, McDonald, JUH, Gulden the bigger names who are available this year. Whether we are able to get any of the "bigger" names over the line, will be fascinating to watch or we just keep with the trend of our recruiting over the past few years, and get the not so big fish, and go for a Hayward, Taberner, Rowbottom etc....
I still have a feeling one of Holmes or Smith will be with us in 2025, and we will have a huge crack at JUH, even though reports are Sydney are offering him 10 years. I would love to land 2 of those 3!!!
We have some serious talent approaching retirement. We need to retain, develop and recruit. So is Ed Allan.
I agree but who the **** is is this dude and why don't I know about him.FWIW Hayden Young is a future All-Australian.
1: are you drunk? Young is an excellent young player.Who the fk is Hayden Young? If Allen wanted to go home he’d have put his hand up when Schultz requested a trade. We ain’t getting rid of him for anyone.
I like to think I have a reasonable grasp of most oppo players, but Young is one I’ve legitimately never taken notice of. These things happen sometimes.1: are you drunk? Young is an excellent young player.
It was a weird call wasn’t it? No player is signing for 4 years if they are considering a move back home.2: agreed. There's no reason at all to think Allan wants out.
I stand by that, purely on the basis that I don’t believe he wants to leave, the club rates him and he’s contracted long term. If a trade for a superstar comes up there are always other options.3: anyone? Seems excessive.
"Dean - still looks a little proppy / cumbersome to me. Reminds me a little bit of Sharenberg and his foot issues... physique good tho
Krueger - quiet"
Thanks for your report, but that is not what I was hoping to read about Charlie and Kreuger.
Yep, also not what I was hoping to see. Obv just 45 mins of observations, and Reef / Q / Darcy were also quiet tbh, but you'd love to see these guys standing out or making real strides. Likewise Macrae, who looks fit, but still not overly prominent in any drills. Early days maybe...."Dean - still looks a little proppy / cumbersome to me. Glad to hear Ash Johnson is looking the goods so far.Just back from catching the first 45 mins of training. Some observations as follows...
Elliott - looking ripped / leaner
Nicky D - also looking ripped, but stronger. Body like a UFC fighter now, with some puppy fat making way during the off-season. Skills and involvement even better than this time last year. A step ahead of everything & in a diff class. Quite scary...
De Goey - in similar class. Disposal A1. Attitude A1. Fit. Has to be his AA year this year...
Maynard - lean upper body. Makes sense.
Howe - Ripping shape, fitness and skills
AJ - Def bigger, and def playing as key forward option
Bobby - stronger. Lively and as agile as ever...
Eyre - Impressive. Tall lad, but disposal looks very good. Building up, but still has more scope for filling out. Bit quiet personality wise, but has the tools
Allan - actually looked leaner (legs) v end of last season to me. Skinfolds and running obv a focus over off-season, with more midfield time awaiting. Similar personality to Eyre... just not standing out too much
Reef - quiet
Dean - still looks a little proppy / cumbersome to me. Reminds me a little bit of Sharenberg and his foot issues... physique good tho
Krueger - quiet
Lipinski - in a lot. just runs a lot, in the right places, neat skills and knows the system well
Ryan - strong, alert, lively
Steene - big. Will be a unit when done
Mitchell - solid
Pendles - as loud and lively as ive seen him... just loves it
Sidey - looking fit, agile... defying time
Beau - fit, strong, quick
Oleg - fit, athlete
Cox - strong, disposal a bit off
Bytel - looked agile, up for it, at the level
Noble - good, stronger, bigger. vocal
Rookies - not there
Rest of disposal was v good, and all seemed primed & focused to give it a good shake again. Early days I know, but havent lost anything in the break, and look a v well drilled unit. Lets hope reminiscent of the Geelong and Richmond dynasties of past decade
