Another solid VFL debut performance from one of the 2025 draft contingent. CDT largely played forward with only occasional stints in the ruck. He showed his mobility to get around the ground, and ability to attack ground balls. He competed in the air but wasn't as clean with his hands in marking contests as you'd like which remains a bit of a concern for his prospects as a key forward, however he still found ways to impact and ended up with three goals in helping Essendon to a big win.

yeezus... marking is samsonesque

He doesn't become a lamp post if he doesn't take the mark like Samson, though
true but shades of the archetypical 200cm small forward liam mcbean. would need to be an elite ruckman but I havent seen that yet either.

He's Tim English with better agility, worse marking, and worse ruck craft.

Can someone in the know clarify something for me. We seem keen on Grlj which is fine he seems like a great kid etc but draft ranking consensus for him seems to be 15-20. So are a. The draft rankings wrong? Or b. Are we going to stretch and take him with pick 2 or 3 or c. Are we going to swap our pick 3 for picks 10 and 12 or something and take him with one of those?

we'd be silly not to split one of the picks imo, theres some quality that fits our needs in the back half of the top 20.

If we really like him that much, just take him at 3 and ignore the dickheads in the media.

It depends on our club's internal rankings imo

still pretty early to get a read on draft rankings. He has an enviable skillset for clubs with his speed but had an underwhelming champs. If he continues to have good VFL showings and has a real solid coates league finals he could easily be in the top 5 mix

You can see flashes that this kid could be a pretty unique big. He moves extremely fluid for a 200cm lad and is showing he is able to be effective as a forward aswell.

You can’t pass on that
