The only apparent knock on Robey (who is best available and also our #1 positional need) seems to be the fact that he's only been in the Talent league for a short duration of time, so he doesn't have as many runs on the board as some others.

This completely fails to recognise the way our recruiters operate.

Of our 4 top picks last year, 3 of them, Lalor, Hotton, Faull were unseen for large parts of the year with injury. Likewise, Smillie exploded out of the blocks at the start of the year and had a quiet back half of the year.

Our recruiters won't have any issues picking Robey based on a huge end to the year, in the same way they didn't hesitate to pick Hotton after a hot start to the year

Those last year would've been watched before their draft year.
Infact we talked too Faull before the season.
So unless Jackson was hiding behind a tree again in suburbia somewhere Robey is far more of a risk than those missing games in their draft year.

CDT is probably best available for us, if he's there, but hard to see how we would fit in Faull, Armstrong, Sims and CDT in the same team. Counter points are the recent rule changes and both Sims and CDT seem to have good ground level skills too

Carlton might. Swap 4 for 9 & 11, then swap of picks next year to even up.

We could get Robey, Grjl & XT, Carlton get ahead of Dean Bid where they'll lose those picks anyway.

Based on the collective group think of this board at picks 3 & 4 we must take pure midfielders, not a ruckman or those that played HBF/HFF, who dominated at both club level & National Champs and is also a mad Tigers supporter that had posters or either Deledio or Martin on their wall. If not available then we must trade back from 3 & 4 for a later R1 pick & R2 pick or 2026 R1 so we can then pick up a HBF/HFF and/or a ruckman.

Yeah I think we trade if we dont want Robey and if we do want him we will be using the picks.

Take whoever is left of Robey/CDT at 3 and then trade back 4 for 7 + a future and take Grilj.

Blair plays the odds. History tells you he trades out of weak drafts, and into strong drafts. He traded out of the 2020 draft, which was super weak - I acknowledge Cats got Holmes, but that was a super pick by them on not on anyone's radar. The rest of the 2020 draft outside Thilthorpe at #2 was complete garbage.

We traded 'in' to the 2021 draft which was super strong....JHF, Callaghan, Amiss, Ward, NWM, Brown, Wilmot, Lohmann, Connor McDonald etc....if even one of Gibcus or Clarke get fit this will end up being an outstanding draft for us - Gibcus/Clarke, Brown and Banks (Sonsie a likely bust). It's a great haul with 5 x picks from 9-30.

We traded out of 2022 and 2023 (TT and Hopper) and whilst the top-end in 2022 is OK, from outside the top-10 only Michallaney and Weddle are quality...the rest are garbage. We have 12 and 21 for TT....an absolute bargain when you look at the crap from that draft.

For this reason, I really think Blair will listen intently to offers to boost our 2026 draft hand. I think we take whomever is left out of Robey/CDT at #3, then go to work on parlaying #4 into 2026 in some way. Given we can almost certainly get Grjl, Taylor, Cumming or Sharp at #7 or #8 it's a move I would support.
