Hypothetically, CDT is still on the board at our first pick. Would we prefer to target bombers future first rather than pick 5? I suspect we would based on assumption we rate next years draft above this years. Even so, would we expect any further sweetener, or is that being greedy?

I’d certainly not be against pick 3 + 38 for F1 and 27 etc.

He’s 17/18 years old for God sake. Shane Edwards? Does that name ring a bell 🙄
When you are selecting in the top 5 you need to be sure he makes that grade

"Grlj took some time after his VFL experience to reflect on his year — and acknowledged he was “overthinking” parts of the game. I had a week off in between my Richmond VFL and my last Metro game, and I think I reflected on why I wasn’t playing as well as I did at the start of the year.

And when we came down to how I was going through the games, I was probably just overthinking a little bit
Because I think, for me, I’m playing my best footy when I’m not thinking — and it sounds really silly, but that (playing on instinct) was what I tried to get back to and just controlling what I could control.

Grlj said that struggle “definitely” presented during crucial Metro carnival games, adding: “You can put a lot of pressure on yourself because it is the biggest stage and everyone wants to play well. That’s why I didn’t get the best out of myself — just too much pressure, I guess.”

Sounds a bit like Tambling talking

Like the blokes linking us to Peatling or Sam Butler, they’re likely types for us, and it’s easy to say we were in the running but ‘things changed’
I think it’s important that folks realise the differences between a few things cause the common trend is people read or hear something and just jump to the end conclusion.

Someone saying that we have interest in a player simply means a player who is identified, could fill a need and a question has been asked to a manager.

This doesn’t mean we are first in the race or even in the hunt, as the interest may no be there in return.

If someone says we are in the hunt to land player X, interest has been expressed, and received well and they are keen to move. Still doesn’t mean it’s done.

Then there is a categorical yep he is coming, but that’s not something said often.

What’s key is points 1 and 2 do exist and things do change or interest is only 1 way.

This doesn’t mean people with mail are wrong.

Doesn’t mean all mail is right either, which can be the fun part of trying to decipher it all.

There is maybe 2-4 posters here that if they say something, my ears will prick up and I’ll pay attention.

This is how I want it to play out (taking out F/S etc...), keeping things mildly realistic:

Eagles: Duursma
Eagles: CDT
Tigers: Robey

*Tigers trade #4 and a F2 to Demons for #8 and F1.

Demons: Sharp
Essendon: X. Taylor
Essendon: Cumming
Demons: Schubert
Tigers: Grjl

Demons get one of the 'Big-4' and get their Oliver/Petracca replacement, and they still get their KPF in Schubert.

If Bombers take Grjl then happy days, we get Cumming/Taylor instead.

If Demons back themselves to finish outside the bottom-6, and they assume we finished bottom-3, this deal is very much a live chance.

If they finish 12th and we finished 17th in 2026, then it's effectively:

Pick #4 and #19, for pick #8 and #7.

Thats not a suitable trade IMO

If CDT is available we take him unless its a good enough deal we cant knock back or if Richmond rate another player at a similar level but lets presume we are happy to take Grlj,Taylor,Sharp,Cumming and happy to go back to #5

I would be asking/wanting
#3+#38 for #5+F2+#21

Otherwise just select CDT

People have lost the ability of critical thinking, weighing up uninformed opinions and BS vs solid info from reputable sources.

Imagine the outcry on here if we select CDT and Sharp with our picks 😂

Thats kind of the point though, critical thinking is questioning the crew that consistently post on here with mail or insider scoop.
It’s not a lack of nuance to call out how often speculation gets dressed up as ‘mail’. The same posters make educated guesses, get a couple right, and suddenly people start quoting them like gospel. It’s a forum, people are gonna call that out.

I guarantee a large majority of posts in here claiming to be ITK or mail are just interpreting media crumbs that we all read, and making a bet on what seems likely. The masquerading as having mail or sources is what’s weird, not having ‘opinions’

I can choose not to believe it, but I can also choose to say I think that’s BS and so on
