took a wild punt on 241k fwd Judson Clarke because i heard he was tearing up on the twos (28pos + 2 goals last week)
well, he has gone and done another ACL... :eekv1: :cryv1:
this just about sums up my year... FML :(

... i also got on board 283k fwd Sam Butler (64pts)... thankfully, he's going alright 🙄
Judson was flying and should have been in the AFL side yesterday.

rd13: 1833pts (top 16%)
overall: 2,235th (top 30%)... up 176 spots
trades: 18

Rozee + Sheezel + Holmes + TDK + JohnsonZ = :thumbsu:
Roberts(DNP) + Smith(DNP) + Anderson + Lindsay =
trading IN Judson Clarke = :cryv1:

finally moving up in the rankings
time to trade OUT Lindsay... hopefully, i can find the money for Butters... otherwise i'll downgrade -> JacksonH
should get back Smith, Macrae, JHF... and i'm looking at a full 23 available
Gawn and Martin must be stopped !!

That was the round from hell. Anything that could go wrong did.
In one of my cash leagues I (1st) lost to someone who was 15th. He was the only player in our league who didn't have B Smith. Whereas I had N Daicos & Merrett who both cop the heavy tag he had J Daicos who was allowed to run around gathering possessions at will. Additionally he had Bergman (mid 70 average) who comes up with 104, Stewart and Parker both get 100+ when previously scoring shit. The only positive from my team atm is Ned Long who is going from strength to strength.
Scored a lousy 1736 and dropped from 73 to 111.
Would love to trade out Merrett who I only brought in 2 weeks ago but am already down to 10 trades left. Rankine also looks like he needs to be traded but I just have to hope he gets his midfield role back soon. Forward line needs one more upgrade which will be Horne Francis when he's bottomed out and Flynn as flex to be upgraded leaving only 8 trades for the remainder of year.

1908 for me.

Contemplating final mid upgrade with Butters in Mids via 3 playing rookies, 2 bubble rookies in

Or Flynn to TDK in Flex position with rookies on bubble in for dead ones.

Went about as well as it could have. Ended up funding my trades (Roberts to Bont, LAshcroft to Walsh) by downgrading Marshall to TDK. 170k from that downgrade, didn't love any of the rookies to downgrade to that wouldn't have netted me as much cash, and thought TDK's price/run was worth the punt, plus got me 22 on the field instead of 21.

Trading Pickett in a couple weeks ago for a 40 odd and a 60 odd (and 44k dropped) is painful. And I imagine his breakeven this week is ****ed and he's probably a chance to drop 70-80k more. Do I cut my losses? Feels like if I'm going to cut him on his bye next week I'd be best to do it now and save the cash he'll drop. But don't have the cash to get him to any good forwards. And if I move him to a mid/def I'll be fielding one short unless I trade in a forward rookie who's playing (but of the 22, the 18th best would be Flynn)

Not sure about trades this week. Tempted to either make none or just move on Lindsay or Pickett. Think I'm in a good spot for the next 3 byes too - more than half of my green dots have already had the bye. Flynn can go next week on his bye.

Part of me wonders if Colby is a play. 91 guy in defence last year, priced super low, potentially a 95 guy this year with a bit of improvement in the same role. Could be a handy utility operator at a cut price.

And then is Zak Johnson worth it as a rookie? Good breakeven, surely gets a run up until their bye in 3 weeks time when reinforcements come, so will make some cash, but is that enough to justify the trade? I'd prefer my downgrade now to be someone who'll hold for the rest of the year so I can just jettison Trav/Erasmus/FOS/Clarke to cheap throwaways which I'm not sure any of Madden/Johnson/Lual/HOK/Jackson are. Maybe Butler/Jack Martin?

Considering Colby also. Think he holds this role (he should). For me it's Colby and Kennedy vs Jackson (Freo) & Docherty with a rookie thrown in (Johnson Ess)

To be really honest, I'm not sure I love any of those options that much. Sinclair & Bont is possible money wise, and I like that combo, but I need a cheap forward rookie, and there just aren't any. Can't do Kennedy & Sinclair without a boost, and don't want to use four trades.

Others like Butters, Walsh & Serong could work, but might as well just go Docherty for cheaper I think.

At his price. I would have thought bringing Butters in was a no brainer. Bont will be considerably cheaper two weeks from now. With only 10 trades left after this week, my only trades going forward will be bringing in Horne Francis or Darcy (preferably both) leaving remaining trades for injury.

Walsh out for 6 the week after I bring him in.

Ugh, what a waste of a valuable trade.

Was originally just going Lindsay to Johnson and banking cash. I’d have gone Walsh to NWM had I known before today, but now it’s a choice of Butters, Serong, Jackson, Docherty and Daniel

Butters at that price seems intuitively the right pick but I can’t help but feel he’ll get more attention with Rozee out of the mids and him proving he’s taggable. Langdon/Sparrow, Jordon, and Cincotta to come. I can see Cincotta tagging now with Walsh out opening up a rotation.

Other option is to bank more cash and go for a value option - Cooper Lord stands to gain from Walsh out and McKercher looks good too.

Thinking maybe just back Butters in, and then maybe burn a third trade on Pickett to Jackson, Daniel or Lord. Potentially even a fourth on Flynn out - with Williams back in holding him isn’t as lucrative just for an extra week.
