I once had my resignation letter tucked into my notebook when I was having a 'review' meeting with the pissant MD who ran the firm and my manager. The firm was beyond dodgy and I had been trying to get out for a while - the guise of the meeting was me wanting more responsibility for certain functions that weren't being done by anyone else and were severely neglected. Turned into a meeting of the MD just trying to undermine my confidence so I would just go back into my box and do the role I was doing because that's all they wanted me to do (despite selling something very different during the interview process) - which I fully expected would be the outcome. I just let him talk shit for a good half an hour and then said 'well I'm sorry you see it that way, here is my letter of resignation and this is my official 4 weeks notice'. The look on his face was so very worth it. Next time I saw him a few years later I was in the kind of role I had asked for while the business I left had crumbled apart and he was scrapping around looking for a new role.

Honestly that offer is in the camp of 'selling the farm' for Hawthorn supporters and 'not enough' for Essendon supporters. Suggests it's about right even though I think it's far too much.

Problem is I think Essendon are just going to turn around and still ask for more.

I love it. Not normally our style to directly (or indirectly via management) make an offer public. But to put something out there that is objectively more than fair compensation shifts the dialogue. How do they now say we didn't pony up?

So bombers have a player who has unequivocally told them he wants no part of the club & there is a fair offer on the table. Hold now until 7:25 and wait for them to come to the table.

I usually have a team that I 'love' watching getting beaten - typically a pretty good team that I begrudgingly respect as well. That's the Yankees in the AL and the Dodgers in the NL for me. Besides, as a SF Giants fan, I'm still dirty that Judge decided to re-sign with your lot last year instead of returning 'home'.
