But newer players also in the team. It's not necessarily the same list.

Ok then they quit on 2 coaches. IMO this speaks to the heart of the problem at the club that the players have too much say and some them think they know better than the coaches. What have any of them done to earn that right???

Look, obviously it isnt a great result but it was also expected and predictable. Anyone who is surprised hasn't been paying attention.

North are decent. Their last 6 weeks involved three wins, a draw with Brisbane, a loss to Freo in Perth by only 6, and a loss to Collingwood where they were dead even at 3/4 time. They have more depth, and a lot of high draft picks starting to get it. We all know Sheezel, LDU, Xerri, but today they got 34 from Powell (pick 13 in 2020). They got 29 from McKercher (pick 2). They got contributions from O'Sullivan (pick 2) and Hardeman (first rounder in 2020) and Stephens (pick 5), but also from Luke Parker and Caleb Daniel (smart veteran pickups).

Basically, North are the team we were 4-5 years ago. Lots of talent, 'green shoots', etc.

And we are just not that good. All of that is gone for us. Go back to when we were North and alongside the guys who are still here we had Fisher, Dow, Setterfield, Kennedy, Stocker, Marchbank, SPS, Cunningham, Martin, O'Brien, even Williamson, Owies. We went all on with Saad/Cerra/Williams, blew our cap space, and have replaced them with rookie picks and cheap trades.

And this team just doesn't have enough talent. They are pretty well coached and organised - we don't concede big scores, get well positioned behind the ball, move it end to end. We were +15 inside 50s! There just isn't enough talent there. We ask too much of our mids and they don't run forward, and our forwards aren't good enough.

The end result was somehow better and worse than expected. The end margin was probably closer, but the middle was worse. Oh well, the sky isn't falling, and I do think we need to keep our heads a bit, and maybe just readjust expectations to be a bit more realistic.

We beat them by 14 goals in round 6.

To suggest today’s result was expected is nonsense.

Maybe it's Charlie and TDK and others who are clueless?
Possibly.

Durdin no disposals is the 2nd quarter and 1 disposal in the 3rd quarter.

Our midfield is getting beat so let’s sub off Lord and keep Durdin on the back of his 1 kick in two quarters of football. Master stroke.

And who do we replace him with?
Jordy Russell!

I just feel empty. Previously like the the mid 2010's at least I clung on to the youth factor and the hope by 2023-2026 we'd become a powerhouse. Now it just feels like a massive waste. All coaches got to go but that won't fix everything, the players need a psychologist and the execs/board need to really need to identify all the wrongs with this once proud club.

They've now got the rest of the year to do that.

We just aren't willing to go there.

I don't know where it begins and ends, but there is a pervasive entitlement that holds us back as a club.

The hard yards, the extra mile, the personal sacrifice...whatever you want to call it, we simply aren't willing or able to plumb the depths that other clubs are in pursuit of success.

I don't know if it's borne of past success, or the safety net of rich benefactors, or the messiah complex of bringing in big names. We think being Carlton is enough.

It isn't.

The issue is the lows are so low.

Calamity football - for qtrs 2 & 3.

Kick/mark/turnover - horrible.

I don’t think we’re this bad!

We just don’t want it enough. Took until the last quarter from a coaches blast to get us mentally tuned in.
Everyone knew what was on the line today, except the players. They just don’t care like the supporters.
I can’t believe how many were crying in the stands. The club should be embarrassed today.

If this is the case, then we blow up the list. If it's not, we get the right help around them.
