I can't see that reported figure as even close to being true.
Cottrell is limited as a footballer. Doesn't get enough of the ball. Will struggle to get games this year as others get opportunities

Number of players at a similar level, they'll be competing/rotating depending on form and injury
These kinds of players in that 20-25 area of our list are integral to winning a premiership and are the exact types who help you get there. Love Cotts. Limited in areas but never dips on passion or effort.

I've always found it interesting when reports like this get leaked, sure its a signal of intent from the club but its not a great look if you don't land said player. Also sends the wrong message to the playing group that we've got cash to splash but not on you.
Good clubs simply don't put this stuff out there, they quietly go about their business and just get deals done.

Good clubs, (successful) don’t usually have to, can’t afford to over pay. That’s what the story is really about and not much you can do to stop that happening.

I assume it's the player's manager doing the leaking. They'd be looking to get other clubs biting and putting pressure on the current club

Not worried about TDK leaving. Have always had the gut feel he'll stay. If I'm wrong, so be it life goes on and it's easy enough to get value in trading in ruckmen from other clubs.
What I'm more concerned about is articles like this coming out every week and the potential that has to impact his form this season. He needs to stand up this year and a lot of our fortunes are going to centre around him having a great year. If he wants to play the leverage game where he holds out until later in the year then hopefully he's not one to let the articles impact his form.

This vision doesn't do this moment justice but watching it live, Cottrell comes from the clouds to win the footy and makes a great decision. He's then on his bike again and his opponent just can't keep up.
I agree he might not be the quickest from a standing start in the team, but accelerating from a jog to top speed and maintaining it is something he does so well.

The big issue for ruck managers is Darcy Fort...!
Not really concerned by st blunder as I doubt outside the money they would be attractive to him. It’s other clubs who would pay overs and offer more than just money that would be the real concern…we want him to stay but doubt we get into a bidding war.
