The taxed amount is irrelevant. He will be paying the highest tax rate for the rest of his life. The biggest thing is a dollar now is worth a lot more than A dollar in the future.
If the figures are correct imo he is crazy to stay or we are crazy getting close to that amount.
Correct 50% of $1.7 mil is still better than 50% of $1 mil. if the figure is true.

I query how some sides like Geelong, Richmond (in their days), Brisbane, etc. stay under the cap, but when it comes to clubs like StKilda, I laugh my ass off and players who even consider going there.

Until we have other smalls playing up forward who can reliably apply the kind of pressure Fogs does, I'm not sure how we can cut him.
Fog is equal 6th in the competition last year for tackles inside 50 among players who played 10 games or more (some guys had 2 in 1 game and didn't play again).

His pressure is elite.

If it's true, I'd take that offer if i was him. This is a career, make the most money you can, screw loyalty to the club, they'll toss you out the second you're no longer useful. Look after your own interests, not the club's.

Pretty sure most players that elect to leave a club take into account many more factors than purely $.

He can still earn very good $ at Carlton and be part of team success that seems alot more attractive than jumping ship purely for $ which l am confident will be likely outcome.
lf he does elect to leave l don't see the Saints as his destination.

TDK go to the Saints and his kid brother already has a Premiership medal. Going to the Saints means no flag(s) for him ...

Fogarty is severely underrated - and as far as Geelong is concerned I can tell you they were very unperturbed trading Billy Smedts and Darcy Lang to us, but were very miffed letting Fogarty go.

😉

Fogarty doesn’t kick goals and doesn’t attract the ball. His role is tenuous because he has only one AFL level attribute.

Did manage to kick multiple goals a few times late in the season.

Admittedly it was against rabble sides Richmond, North and Collingwood ;)

They want it out there. If Saints can push clubs to pay more to re-sign their stars, eventually someone will get squeezed out. As far as theyre concerned its win win.
However it's uncanny how often when this happens that the player concerned is signed up within a relatively short time frame afterwards. I guess if the player wants to stay they'd prefer the speculation not be a distraction longer than need be.

Absolutely but I can’t think of a player ever giving up $600k per year over 7 years. I also couldn’t see him leaving for a couple hundred thousand so another club will likely have to offer near that St Kilda offer (which no successful club is likely to) or imo he is at St Kilda.
This is all assuming we are willing to offer him $1.1mil to. We may go higher but that really does risk our future imo.

Firstly they are reported numbers, so completely subjective.
lf you were the Saints and willing to pay TDK $1.5m try selling that to Rohan Marshall who is a quality ruckman, again broader reasons for going to a club for $.

The Saints have a history of offering players strong dollars to come across, they are yet to attract one.

How many good, well liked, well respected, well paid players leave their club to go to a shit club when money is the only factor?
💯

Imagine running out each week next to Crippa, Weiters, Walsh, Harry, Charlie etc, and then heading to the rabble and running out alongside ? Sinclair?…..I got nothin….

And how many 'A-Grade' free agents switched clubs purely because of money?

Personally I think he'll re-sign....although the figures being thrown around could push his price up. He seems to be pretty settled at the club, and we've built a bloody impressive midfield that I'm not sure he'd want to leave behind. Saints midfield is possibly the worse in the AFL at the moment.
