If the AFL open the window Melbourne will get a pick as well and almost certainly offer Culley given he has been training with them. He’s likely to want to stay with the blokes he has been training with. Of course we could offer him longer tenure but that might be a bit of a panic move

For similar reasons I think we'd take Will White if they re-open the SSP window

I'm upset about this news too, but I'll never give up on the Navy Blues.

Jagga is just a skinny kid, silver cloud lining. Instead of getting smashed by older players this year. He can get into the gym and build some weight and strength, work alongside Newman. We have the depth in mids to go well. Better him than Walshy, Crippa, Cerra or Hewitt. Be good to see how JSOS goes next week down back, Lewis Young isn't up it.

I’d take the punt on the youngster, though I can see the logic in taking an ‘insurance player’.

I though about Will and I like him but he isn't what we need. Unfortunately, unless Austin can pull some magic somehow we are looking at players that will be a long way from senior selection and are just depth

You would also want a player that has done an AFL pre season somewhere. To bring someone in from outside would be started way behind the 8 ball

It's an interesting one.

Do you try to find a like for like replacement (midfielder) or pick one of the boys we've done our homework on already over the course of the preseason?

I don't really mind either way because I think we have enough cover in the midfield but it would be cool to see someone like Dom Brew or even a Heath Ramshaw get the gig.

SSP period back open for Carlton. Will we use two spots?? I think we should as we will likely get another LTI. However if we don’t get another injury it’s obviously win win so it’s worth taking this risk. The alternative is far worse.

I’ve always thought Parfitt was a good player. Think he adds something different to our midfield as well.
Good suggestion.

I guess this gives others the opportunity to cement themselves in the side and with the AFL re-opening the SSP period, a chance for someone else to get on an AFL list

I hope that we would put Newman on the LTI and take 2 players
