Everything I remember was it was 7 years at $7million. That's not $1.5m/year, although if it was backloaded, it could be heading in that direction.

There was an article, either player agent or draft based, about a former SA player who was especially dark on one of the SA teams. So is Lachie Neale worth talking about?

$1.3 mill according to Mark Robinson
The Demons have walked a tightrope with the 27-year-old for some time. Stupidly, they put him on a bumper deal that pays him $1.3 million per year when they were aware of his mental distress. His volcanic off-field behaviour may have come later.
For at least two years now, Melbourne has tried to help him. Medically and psychologically. They have cuddled him and cared for him. They have forgiven him and they encouraged him and they have also eyeballed him.

Seems they didn’t want a bar of him draft year, so any attempts to recruit him after that were met with a polite **** off.
I always thought it was Neale and us. Could be wrong.
Ofcourse we went with the Nord guy over the Glenelg dual Brownlow medalistMatt Rendell says that he rated him and was expecting to take him with a 5th rounder or in the rookie draft and Freo got in ahead. Found it.

Times were simpler back then, for instance Glenelg never won SANFL flags.Ofcourse we went with the Nord guy over the Glenelg dual Brownlow medalist
Too busy making afl championsTimes were simpler back then, for instance Glenelg never won SANFL flags.
And I still think Neale fits the narrative I was jiving aboutMatt Rendell says that he rated him and was expecting to take him with a 5th rounder or in the rookie draft and Freo got in ahead. Found it.

We also took Nick Joyce over NealeMatt Rendell says that he rated him and was expecting to take him with a 5th rounder or in the rookie draft and Freo got in ahead. Found it.

There's no way he's being paid $10.5m over 7 yearsIt’s interesting that every report at the time was $7m over 7 years but the 2 subsequent stories after shit hit the fan added $2m and $3.5m to the total contract value, I call bullshit.

Man if Oliver goes to Geelong I'm going to lose my shit, there is obviously something dodgy going on with their recruiting but would be a bridge too far![]()

Well I call nobody other than Oliver, his manager, the club and those really close to him know the actual figure. It’s interesting that every report at the time was $7m over 7 years but the 2 subsequent stories after shit hit the fan added $2m and $3.5m to the total contract value, I call bullshit.

One things for sure he hasn't lived up to the price tag.
He has the body of a 30 year old, the mental capacity of a 10 year old, and the nasal septum of a 95 year old. It's gonna be a no from me.Clarry Oliver wants out of Melbourne still and will request a trade
If we can get him relatively cheap trade capital wise and the Dees pickup a portion of his contract then we need to have a crack
A midfield rotation of
Rankine, Soligo, Draper, Oliver, Dawson, Peatling, Rachele, Curtin
Thats top drawer
Yeah he’s gonna be with us until he retires/is let go![]()

I wonder if Hamish Ogilvie was ever sounded out or applied for the Tassie role in the end? Anyway it looks like if he wasn’t moving for that role he isn’t going to be leaving his post anytime soon. Has held the head of recruiting role for over 13 years now.

Curious how you can disagree with this Mutineer. On what grounds?Yeah he’s gonna be with us until he retires/is let go
Had a shocker 1/2 a decade (albeit with a few good picks sprinkled in between) but is looking better recently. Selecting more naturally talented players than ‘hard workers’
Seems odd for a player that was expected to be rookie listed, but was drafted at pick 58 to be upset about anyone not drafting him.
So that's Oliver, Butters, Harley Reid and Jamarra U-H all going to Geelong.Man if Oliver goes to Geelong I'm going to lose my shit, there is obviously something dodgy going on with their recruiting but would be a bridge too far
