I’m no accredited player agent, but with growing chatter that DAZN may not be overly enthusiastic about the price of AFL rights they’ve inherited from the Foxtel deal, I’d be advising my clients to secure as much money, for as long as possible, while the money is still there and sort the rest out later.

A two year deal for Nas might be the riskiest thing he could do.

This is spot on. Especially as it appears the plan in the Footy dept was to first get Nas' body right to play more midfield time (RTB spoke at a presser earlier that his groins needed work).
So his opportunity to shine like he has in the midfield was always going to be later in the season.
I imagine Nas and his agent then agreed to delay a decision until his worth could be fully assessed.
I don't think this makes his agent greedy - it's just (unfortunately for us, dying for an answer) good business.
Not a bad take on the situation. :whitecheck:

Wow clutching at straws here.

What is wrong with these grown men all being 'homesick' while getting paid millions of dollars to kick a football?

I find it incredible, they aren't being sent to the other side of the planet. You never hear soccer players demanding to be sent home from Europe or Asia because they are 'homesick'. Jesus Christ how much different is Perth to Brisbane or Melbourne to Adelaide?
What a load of baloney this homesickness rubbish is. Might have washed when they were getting 200k a year as a top contract, not when everything is a mill plus nowadays.
Funny how you never see rookies getting homesick if they are picked up and make it. Or MSD pick from.interstate.

As for Butters being homesick, have you ever been to Darley. Adelaide must be some almighty hellhole if thats the case.

Most cloistered, spoiled selfish footballers that there has ever been. Homesick 🙄. Tell that to FIFO worker with families who they see for a week a month or others struggling to make ends meet.
These current day footballers are really mumma's boys by the sounds.

But they are not. It is an excuse to get rich and play where they want under the constraints of the draft and trading rules.
Spot on.
100%
Either they’re breeding them really soft these days or they just, selfishly, want to have it all.
Possibly both.

I left home to study at 18.
And I couldn’t afford to fly home every other month.

And if it’s mommy calling them home, moms it’s time to cut those apron strings!

Great point. Definitely a factor

This just isnt at all helpful.

I dont even speak with my parents anymore, if id been drafted at 18 i would have preferred to go interstate.

You know how much relevance that has to Nas or any other player.

Absolutely none.

Under the current system he can ask for a trade for whatever reason he likes, he hasnt done that and if he did we dont know anything about his personal circumstances to give him shit for it.

This is exactly the sort of stuff that sucks when it comes to supporters.

To be absolutely clear, I was not insinuating or implying racism at all. I can see how the Harry/Meaghan comparison would lead to that conclusion but that was not my intention. My implication there was related to stuff around relationships. I read the word "cuck" in a post earlier, and it was more to do with that.
Fair enough, jumping to conclusions. Cuck has been mainly directed towards Tom Morris

Maybe it’s just me, but I haven’t heard anything to give me any really concern that he has decided to go. I reckon Ross knows already and is being coy. Still confident we will retain him.

I’ll be pissed if not though and his exhibits gets us above higher Carlton and Essendon on the ladder and their compensation picks.

Gone

Genuinely not an ounce of me thinks Nas is leaving...at least for now

All the signs have been positive:
  • NWM has personally said the pull home isn't as strong
  • Ben Williams said months ago that if he was a betting man NWM would probably stay. Then it suddenly switched up when NWM started playing like a top player in the comp. Coincidence?
  • Absolutely no reason for NWM to sign now. There is no benefit to him. Assuming he continues this form, he may leave money on the table. There's no possible negative effect for him between signing now and signing post-season, only positives
  • Bergman looked all but gone from Port. Had interest from many clubs on huge money but rumoured to prefer St Kilda and bought a house in Hampton. Suddenly re-signs for 2 years to take him to free agency the same week it was reported St Kilda were confident NWM would stay - hence not having any trade capital for Bergman - likely for the same tenure. Coincidence?
  • Neither Adelaide club has close to the required trade capital unless they trade a required player
  • Every journo has said that they would lean toward NWM staying
  • Joey Montagna has had a smug look on his face every time NWM comes up on First Crack - each time hinting that he thinks NWM stays
  • Mason Wood said at a function in May that he's super confident NWM will stay
  • Tex Wanganeen must be super confident that he'll be on the Saints list next year if he's willing to play VAFA over returning to Port Melbourne

this is all just off the top of my head

The only genuine reason for thinking NWM is leaving is because its round 21. But that's immediatlely countered by the argument that Ben Williams is just playing the waiting game for St Kilda to cough up
Yep - staying.

Afternoon. Back again after mainstream confirmed my Leek Aleer news.
Windhager still unsigned as we approach round 22... In career best form.
Windhager camp has been infuriated by the clubs treatment of one of their own NGA boys. From the lowballing offers to the botched NAS presentation. Marcus is a loyal young man who may still stay, but it is fair to say the List and Recruitment team at the club have operated appalling in their treatment of him.

On Nasiah: Intel suggests he is leaning towards leaving, and Nas' teammates are of the belief it will be the crows he elects to nominate, not the power.
Club clearly, still has a few weeks to change his mind.

sponsor will be announced tomorrow from the news i have...

Well known within Australia - has not been mentioned in this thread.

Great work to Finnis and Co for getting them on board

But don’t you get your info from said Jurnos and therefore any info you relay is just guess work?

Source was I knew someone at the club.

No one needs to believe me. Discredit me any way you want. Always had a good track record when I’ve shared things. Plenty of things I haven’t shared on the board.

But ultimately I am a nuffie fan first and foremost. Just like anyone else that posts on here.

I've said this before but why would we not just cough up now and get it done?

2 years is the optimal for the club though. Now sucks due to lack of available capital and Free agency sucks due to limited return. Could you imagine losing him for a single late 1stRDP?

From that standpoint its 2 years or 10 and you'd think 2 years is the more intelligent choice for Nas.

Have the offers to Windy improved or are they still lowballing him?

Also, the Nas stuff is funny. ITKs think Port, now you come in from the clouds to say teammates think crows. No one knows anything for sure, it's incredible.

Don’t be so sensitive, I’m just trying to work out where you’re getting your info from.

Do they know that you pass on any info onto a public fan forum?
