2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

I guess we'll know for sure if LOC moves on to the primary rookie list right? That's like a thing that has to happen first? Or am I confusing it?

In a list management sense it makes sense, both in terms of the list profile and salary cap.

A core of young and precociously talented Irish lads, who will be slow burns, and who will be modestly paid for the foreseeable future.

This will partly counterbalance a number of highly paid seasoned players, one or two who MAY be walking in the door at the end of 2026 via free agency.

In a few years, when the Irish lads blossom into the players we hope they become, there will be more room in the salary cap to reward them as the list and demographics of the cap evolve.

And we will have recruited them without burning draft capital.

If our development is elite, and our luck holds, we will hit the jackpot with these lads. If ever a club deserved the luck of the Irish it is St Kilda.

We could end up as a destination club with two groups of potential recruits- indigenous and Irish lads.

I love the vision and direction of this. It’s bold and strategic.

I see the likelihood that Max breaks the contract and goes to Gold Coast as just as high as Ben coming to Moorabbin unfortunately.

Just to many tricks and incentives stacked in Gold Coasts favour.

I'd be surprised if Ben leaves GC

Do many Fijians play Aussie Rules? Is it a popular sport there?

They certainly play rugby very well. Both League and Union.

Didn’t Fiji win the gold medal at the Olympics for Rugby Sevens?

Tall mid at 192cm. Setterfield averaged over 20 disp in his last 3 seasons, some team might take him or at least rookie

Hed be perfect for Collingwood.

Feels too similar to Steele for us to bring him in as a senior list FA but if he's a depth rookie then I'd probably do it.

Would also have a role to play at Melbourne, Port, Geelong, GWS, North, West Coast & Richmond.

Rekon the Eagles should grab him and Tommy Mitchell to help out on ball and give their kids a chop out for a couple of seasons.

Kobe Mcdonald is very gifted young Gaelic Footballer.

However, I have only seen posts from forumites that link him to St Kilda. Nothing in the media or from our club that have done so though except that we are one of many clubs that have looked at in him shared trials.

This video talks about him, glowingly so....plus that there is lots of talk linking him to Australia, but does not mention any Club.
