2025 List Management Discussion - Part 5

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

This gives us a Squad in 2026 with exceptional depth, versatility, improved ready to go talent, young emerging talent and a much improved midfield than we started 2025 with.

Nas and Hall both revealed that they have real hurt factor when played on ball, both deadly ball use that results in goals.

Deals are worth what they are worth. Dogs signed Macrae up to a huge wage on a long contract and then moved past him. They genuinely needed to off load him.

If Steele really was paid most of his wage front loaded it was quite a different situation. Oliver is probably a closer situation minus the off field stuff.
Has been reported for a long time that Steele's deal was back ended. Agree with your comments. More than happy for a young Flanders as an upgrade on an older Steele, despite having the utmost respect for Steele. I believe too many people focus on draft picks swapped for players, when the whole package needs to be taken into account. Even if Steele has injury luck and a good career at Demons, doubtful his output matches the wage we have pushed out.

Glad we didn’t do that Roma deal, man a lot of deals didn’t get done, clubs holding contracted players, honestly love to see it
Arrogant clubs too - Hawthorn's offer was trash. Pick 10 and essentially 2 2nd round picks + a VFL player

Good to see. A lot of carrying on about how contracts mean nothing these days but at the end of the day it's up to the club's to our their footy down.

Thats very different to a few reports from today but who knows what is right.

Some suggesting he's on 900k and that we will be paying some of his salary.

Time will tell I guess but at the end of the day, he likely wasn't best 22. He was an aging mid that was being pushed out. Very similar to MaCrae.

Looks pretty horrendous on paper. Off-loading your captain for a pick that probably doesn't get used in two years and paying for the privilege looks pretty yuck to a lot of fans.

At least it adds pressure for them to perform next year. We need a rocket up us.
