They'll argue that it's the Auskick kids that are what they're going for.

Personally, I'm against growing the game (tm). More money hasn't made the sport better, if anything, it's made it worse.

We don't need to attract the casual fan. We don't need to attract the rugby league convert. There is no competition between rugby and Aussie Rules.

Growing the game is overrated.
I think it's great that AFL is a national sport now. The difference is that with southern states it was organic and northern states is a forced occupation. 2 teams per expansion state and 1 in Tasmania seems a good state of affairs. Would be great if the NT could join but the practicalities of that will forever be prohibitive.

Whilst it sucks seeing the favouritism it's just growing pains, and I'd argue strongly that the general stink around the game these days is entirely down to the corruption within head office.

Had a boring arvo so was reading through norths board after their loss and saw someone say they were at races and heard Wardlaw was looking to get out of the club. Take with grain of salt ofc. Would be good tho. Plays with heart
I would grab Wardlaw in a flash- he has a ton of potential and will never realize it at North

Another part of that narrative is we're being cast in the North Melbourne role - the desperate underdogs with the massive war chest that no player will take. Just look at the snowball around Finn O'Callaghan, umpteen articles all can be traced back to a single, unsubstantiated claim.

That said, landing TDK would probably be our best recruiting snag since Hamill in terms of PR and would put quite the dent in the reputation lazy media are painting us with.
Yes and no. He’d be a great marketing tool. Would look great in a saints jumper . But there d still be underlying criticism from some that he’s gone for money and no other reason .” I mean how could there be any other reason when you leave a club like Carlton to go to a club like stKilda “
If it opens the gates and we attract some other players after that then the narrative would slowly change I believe.
Media follow each other like sheep in the afl

Can we please bring back the Josh Battle talk instead of this?

That's rough, hopefully our recruiters have seen enough. The dream to take a gun in the 3rd round for the third year in a row could well be alive now.
I remember Cody Anderson was on track to be a first rounder last year before he had an injury of similar timeline. Eventually taken at pick 64

Hopefully we can have something similar especially if we trade our FRDP

It might have been mentioned on here but Wardlaw is supposedly unhappy at North (geez their board is grim reading at the moment).
I would try to be ruthless and strike hard while they are struggling.
Wardlaw is a good player!
I'm pretty sure it was reported by Cal Twomey that Wardlaw just wanted to get fit and establish himself in the 22 before he re-signs into 2030s so don't think those rumours have much legs

Yeah I feel for them tbh. Nothing the fans did wrong, I have a good mate who's a North supporter and yes I'm jealous that he got to see a couple of flags but ultimately they're in a leaky boat very similar to us.

One of the most distasteful things about capitalism is the way it pits the have-nots against each other. We should be banding together against the big clubs rather than fighting amongst ourselves.
How i feel about it as well. Don't like the idea of dining out on the carcas of North.
