Like others Ill be shattered if Nas leaves, but gees it would be nice for the specualtion to finish either way. Im just sick of reading about it in the media and on this forum.

I can understand the ECO supporters following our team is like 'self flagellation' its torture.

I suspect Nas is gone, but holy hell I hope he stays.

If we decide to commit to the rebuild, I could live with this

Re-sign Nas
TDK FA
Trade Marshall for Geelong's 1st
Trade Geelong's 1st for Bergman
Trade Steele for a late 2nd

Delist Jones, Cordy, Byrnes, McLennan, Boyd, Carroll

Pass on Aleer. We have enough 2nd/3rd tall defenders.

Use our top 5 pick on a mid. Use Steele pick to match bid on Fincher.

B: Tauru, Wilkie, Stocker
HB: Nas, Caminiti, Sinclair
C: Wilson, Macrae, Henry
HF: Owens, Sharman, Hall
F: Higgins, King, Keeler

Foll: TDK, Bergman, Phillipou
Int: Wood, Windhager, Travaglia, Garcia

Webster, Howard, Hill, Butler, Clark hang around as mature backup and leadership at Sandy.
He's not playing like he is leaving
If he did leave its why there is talk of Bergman to the saints as port don't have the draft capital to get it done
I think he stays for 2 to 3 years

I know the issue is mainly around family but seriously why would you go to a team like Port that are bottoming out. They’lol have a new coach and will be starting from scratch. Can’t be attractive to a player with his desire to be the best. Look at how he reacts when something goes wrong. He’ll hate Port.

Until I hear an ITK say for us to be worried re Nas, I'm assuming he stays.
I think that he’s probably realised that he wants to go home and kicking the can down the road by a couple of years won’t change anything.

I hope he stays, we saw the bones of a team last night. You add in TDK, Poo, Ming and maybe a couple of trades plus the draft and we’re definitely knocking on the door to play finals imo.

It’s also the type of player Nas is, along with Tauru these are the players who put bums on seats.

Bont hasn't even started contract negotiations with the Bulldogs.
Not the same as NAZ, extremely unlikely he will leave the Bulldogs, however it just shows that it is still June and nothing is decided.
No point worrying about these things.
I understand the concern that
1. TDK won't come
2. NAZ won't stay
But really two heads of the same coin. Carlton trying to see how they can find assets to satisfy player but looks unlikely.
Port are exactly the same but can't find the draft capital.
Both will work out in the end.
A fair bit riding on NWM for most fans, the fact that we’re still gnashing teeth about drafts 10-15 years ago shows how badly we’ve missed taking stars in the draft… he’s comfortably the most talented players we’ve drafted in 20 years so seeing him walk will destroy some fans.

The only semi caveats here at that we KNOWN TDK would rather stay at Carlton so it’s more whether they can close the dollar gap enough to keep him more than anything else.

Nas can also walk to the PSD so whilst I’m sure Port will come up with some deal (Bergman and a first probably?) short of it being Butters and a first or something else extra ordinary it’s not gonna satisfy us given Nas looks like a genuine bone a side star

Agee 100%

I thought you said he was staying?
The information was correct at the time I was told it
So that means I’m still right

Is that how it works 😂

I did say he was staying and if he doesn’t that means I was wrong

Not that hard to say

You should try it

I think it will be up there with losing GF level shattered, to be honest.

Nas is the key piece.

Although I'm not in favour of throwing huge $ at TDK, he's a good player

Along with King, he could shift the needle.

Imagine next year:

  • NWM continues AA, level or even better
  • King healthy and playing like 2022/2023 again
  • TDK steps past aging Gawn and is 2nd or 3rd best ruck in comp.
  • Kids go up a level
  • Easier fixture after bottom 6 in 2025

Could very easily bounce into top 6 or even top 4.

But also...

  • NWM goes to Port
  • TDK stays at Carlton
  • King's injury woes continue
  • injuries to other key players like say, Wilkie
  • Kids don't develop much

It could be absolute groundhog day and Saints could finish bottom 2 or 3.

Under Lyon a wooden spoon is unlikely. They have a way of winning games by pressure and structure

But if we lose NWM, and Wilkie or Marshall got injured, and our kids plateau, things could go pretty sour.

Yep it’s real sliding doors stuff
Could go anyway…

Can't answer so restort to insults. Same every time one of your silly opinions is held up to the light.
Remember being abused by you because we got rid of Dunstan, and I agreed with the club lol.

So the club abandoned that strategy, sacked everyone involved and admitted it was wrong but you can’t admit you are wrong so it must be right. More logical house bricks doing the rounds. I’d rather argue with an AI twitterbot

Don’t forget the Gresham carry on.

So what was I wrong on. They have got rid of players and gone backwards. Probably going further backwards next year and our youth are injury prone. Gresham hasn’t performed so definitely looks like we dodged a bullet but the club needs to replace a bunch in Battle, Long and Gresham’s age group. It’s hardly a great win at this point. Just making more holes to back fill.

It's a bit sad again as a Saint supporter, to see our season go down the drain yet again half way along. We put up a reasonable effort in losing to the top team, but so what. To see many senior players just off the pace in matches we could have a chance in, is another disappointment. We need to now rotate the young guys for full games, and use the experienced players as subs, as they are giving us little going forward.

It would be great if NWM stayed, and it is pretty poor for NWM and his management to string things along at this stage.

Well if he does want to leave it's not very practical to make it public with 3 months of the season remaining, I think he's being pretty professional tbh.

The Crows did a good job last year getting a bunch of decent mid 20s guys and it improved them heaps. Be interesting if we try to do something similar.

I wonder if we have a look at Jai Serong, hasn't played AFL this year but stuck behind some good players.

I wouldn't mind shipping out some older guys as Stavro was suggesting if we can replace them with a few 23-25 year olds.

So you guys want them to extend out other contracts and smooth the amounts (which would also require a little extra) to make a TDK offer work and simultaneously backend his contract to 2030?

Christ that is terrible list management.

You are both so hell bent this narrative that he is crap that you are making another narrative up.
It's the same amount of money. They just pay it later when the cap will be much higher. It's the buddy situation.

I never said he was crap. And you're accusing me of making up a narrative. Never once said he was crap. Never once had an opinion on him as a player. So why is it you want to invent that as a narrative?

You said they can't re-sign him because the cap is full. That's there i disagree

I've just said that if Carlton want him they can. They just don't want to. Because they find the amount of money offered to him as undesirable.

Which even if they did spend it just to keep him given their list make up. It creates all kinds of problems with players like cripps curnow and I think someone like Walsh.

100%

The damage it will do will be a body blow.

It will be very hard to make up ground in 2026. Basically I think with the exit of battle who saved 2-4 goals a game. Then loss of NAS who would probably generate 2-4 and save 1 or 2. Plus the ageing of best 22 players like Marshall steele Wilkie Webster Sinclair hill wood. Then I think you're looking at another bad year. Running the real possibility of the wheels falling off.

Game day will he very vanilla. Even when we lose now we get to watch moments of brilliance from Nas. Who do we get dragged to games to watch when the results aren't there?

I think if Aleer is even remotely keen on coming to us we need to take that opportunity.

Can’t afford to continue failing on drafting key defenders, Van Es, Adams, Goddard, etc.

He’s not going to be quite worth the price tag but you can tell with consistent games he will become a very solid player.

We need a bit of height and we need it now.
