On Crows Board C4 suggest Ben Williams meeting Crows this week re NAS.
I’m sure he is….to get more out of the Saints.
Standard player manager behaviour.

We need a top four pick? Why? We hear this every year but then we got Tauru with pick 10.

We need to draft well. Look how many top four picks North have.
It's not the pick number, but we must position ourselves to get one of the top rung of mids; we need it so badly, miss out this year and you're just asking so much of your later picks to fill that position.
He was Malcolm Blight's assistant, GT sacked him.
GT says, and GT seems to dislike Kenny a lot, that Ken walked out on the club when Blight got sacked.

Isn’t the whole point to draft on best available though. Ie

Taru
Naz
Pou

I remember some being mad we didn’t take the mid in Hobbes. Lol

It's often said, yeah

  • Pou was the last of the top echelon in his draft, a mid/fwd among the top mid grouping. Maybe we got saved by the Dons being worse at drafting than us, who took the pure mid in Tsatas, as the only unknown choice at the time
  • Nas's knock was on his possession-gathering ability, and the outcry was Josh Sinn who went to Port, Healy had an epic meltdown about not drafting the local Sandy boy. I think we were in the right position to get access to the top rung of mids.
  • Tobie and Trav, yes, next best available, but also missed out on that top rung of mids.
which is my point, I would like us to position ourselves so that our "next best available" IS a mid.

I'm not a draft watcher, or a talent scout, but I do know we need a pure mid, be it inside, outside, one with run, decent skills, a mid from day 1, not another HBF we think can become a mid.

Midfielders win games, I do know that.

Now two months later... Marcus continues to be in no rush and has met with 5 clubs over the last 6 weeks.
He ideally wants to play with his best friends but has felt continually disrespected during negations with STK.
Not being portrayed as a key member of the future in the clubs discussions with close friend NWM has indeed frustrated him further as reported earlier today.
OOC coming into round 18 is a horrible look for an NGA product.
Windy is a lot more valuable to me than SOS, if he walks SOS can follow him

I really doubt NWM is withholding signing until Keeler and Windhager are looked after AND provided some sort of Best 22 guarantee.

If- which I doubt- this is happening, NWM would be stepping way over his mark and starting to play List Manager and Coach. Again I doubt this is the case but if it is so, he needs to be firmly told to worry about himself and let the others do the same. If it's a deal-breaker to NWM, then break the deal.

The tail doesn't doesn't wag the dog and NWM is not bigger than the Club.
On your own head, be it, don't complain when Nas is playing for a different club.

Unfortunately that's not his problem. History shows that deals get done if they need to get done, maybe Papley aside.

If he wants badly enough to go home and they're offering a good salary then he'll go.

Most likely trade is Nas to Port, Butters to someone, we get whatever picks those two teams can package up.
Would anyone be happy with Nas to Port, Butters to Ess, Ess's 2 first round draft pics to us?

Not me.

Surely there can’t be any negotiating room left by now though right? As if we haven’t shown Naz all our cards and there’s no need to try the “leverage” angle anymore. If a Crows meeting is happening, it could only really be for them to submit a “final offer” because Naz must have ours by now?

Don’t see why he would go if he was staying.

Surely if he was going then he would not stay; he would simply go. But to stay when you’re going simply confuses things if you’re going. Or staying for that matter.

Happy Chooseday everybody. Be kind to one another and don’t get nasstay 😇

Well Jock Bottle's quote at the end of this article shows just one aspect of what we're up against...

"Hawthorn is a massive club, a lot of history. You get to play at the MCG, the home of footy, and play in front of massive crowds each week. I thought I was ready for the next challenge and that was probably the reason why I left in the end."
