Just a reminder , Bergman was drafted as a Hb first

Nah, half forward was where he was starring when he shot up the draft board. His early games at Port were outrageous goals from long range and decent grabs. He was potentially a wing but don't think he ever played HB from memory. When I wanted him a couple of seasons back I read all the old draft stuff on him and watched highlights. Don't recall anything off HB.

My fear being that we will be asked to cough up in this year's draft. Especially if we have a fairly high pick. Which means we could end up splitting it.
In my view that would be a mistake.

No You were a smart arse about it. And I replied in kind.

He's played well. But he is up against a Blues outfit which looks more like a North side circa 2021.

If he was on the Saints list we would be asking a high price as well.

Port will do it. The question is how do we get the pick good enough to satisfy them.

Port would be crazy not to ask for it. He's probably worth a pick between 8 and 12 IMO more if contracted. It's a lot to give up. We might get a second round pick back if we pushed hard which could do Aleer as well. I'd lean towards a future first and hope we don't go backwards.
