This is pretty narrow thinking.

I'm a huge Rowan Marshall fan but we know his ceiling as a player, he is nowhere near that this season and is the wrong side of 30 next year.

If we get a player in that's better than Marshall and get a first round pick around 10-15 for Marshall, how is that not a win?

The only way it's bad is if De Koning bombs. I don't believe that will happen, I back in the club to get the best out of him, but it's possible of course.

For what's worth, I wouldn't mind seeing if De Koning and Marshall can work in tandem for a season. That's my preference. But dismissing the other option is so short-sighted.

If we’d allowed him to go to Cats the year he wanted to, we would’ve got a far better deal than we eventually did, just a year later, especially when his mental health issues arose. We practically gave him away just to be decent to a very good player for us.

Funny how it’s the same club in both cases.

He had been a fantastic player for us. And he was not in a good way.

Of course they can. But the AFL won't take too kindly of them flashing around a pick they dont even have yet. Especially when Allen isnt a lock for band 1 given how risky it would be to give him guaranteed money for the required period ofttimes with his knee issue.

Have had someone over here say he wanted to give us 3 years then would want to go back to WA. I think Brad Hill signing on helped him do the extra year. It's possible he gets traded this year but he is more than happy to do the full contract then see where things are at.
