Unless he takes his game up a few levels it's a massive overpay. Doesn't win enough hit outs, doesn't take enough marks around the ground, doesn't do much when playing forward. He's one of those guys that looks amazing at times but just doesn't back it up consistently. We can pick up a cheap ruck who may not offer 100% of what TDK does but we won't lose out of it that much either if the club is smart with its trading and drafting.

you're only thinking about the 1.7 and not the options with matching. If De Koning really wants to leave, you match it and then trade with St. Kilda and make them pay properly.

We are not matching the bid. There is no ****ing upside in us matching the bid. If we matched the bid, Tom will turn around and say thank you very much, I'm staying at Carlton. Then we're stuck with an 8 year, 1.7m/year contract.

And you don't ****ing get it at all do you. TDK is probably on about 6-700k/year with us. That 1 million extra a year would mean we lose Walsh next year. And I bet you'd be there saying throw stupid money at Walsh.

Surely if the secret ingredient free agency criteria is number x and st kilda put an offer in that’s 2x then we deserve to get two lots of band 1 compo. Afl needs to set a precedent with us to ensure they can pay their pet clubs down the track.

They're banking on the potential he's shown become actual talent and he becomes one of the premier ruckmen in the league. We've been banking on that for the last 8 years and all he's shown is that potential.

Hes never been good enough as a tap ruckmen to become truly elite as a ruck.

Honestly last season for a few weeks there I was thinking he was on the way.

But as soon as he came up against a couple of physical ruckmen it was the same old Tom In that department.

He’ll continue to be very good at times and have a real influence at stoppages as an extra midfielder but at that salary you’d want him to be far more.

Anyone wants Charlie it starts with this year's and next year's first.
For a team like Sydney, they will play finals next year with a Curnow and he will catapult them to top 4, so I expect a second and a player such as McDonald as well.
We aren't here to make other teams better.

Man saints are dumb. Hamstrung their list with a mega contract. The player is injury prone, good but not great in the ruck, can only play ruck, does some pretty good things around the ground.

A mega deal for a ruckman is totally insane. Good player but will become their whipping boy and scapegoat for years of mediocraty.

I just hope they pay a huge price. I'm not too worried about losing him, but I want maximum compensation.

Tom can be a wealthy man in a team where the fans learn to loath him and at some stage we will recruit his kids.

What will our compensation be? Seeing the enormoty of the contract, it has to easily be record high compensation.

It's nice that Stephen Silvagni has done what is in Carlton's best interest.

Not sure what we do with Silvagni and Curnow. I suspect Silvagni probably goes as well and Curnow stays but who knows.
