I like Matt Roberts from the swans
Tough plays across half back 22 years of age above average in most stats. Booming left leg.
Swans
pick 11, future first , 2027 2nd round, Matt Roberts, Will Hayward.

They receive
Curnow 2026&27 3rd round picks.

I like this one, but am trying to keep up with list spaces. If say Curnow, McGovern, and E.Hollands are gone, and we bring in Hayward, Rogers and Khamis, my math says we have 3 Senior list vacancies (Dean, Ison, +1), and 1 Rookie to also delist (or upgrade). Is this correct?

+ 1 Burton

Want to keep all of Flynn, White and Harry.
Please 🙏
Not looking possible.

I have Charleson with the greater upside. Currently behind our emerging young defensive group, but his skill set creates some POD. Capable of playing wing or maybe even mid too. With Saad, Newman and Haynes all potentially in their final years, there is absolutely room to persist with him.

Loved the Flynn Young profile. Think he was given more opportunity than his form warranted, but also thought he was often played out of position. Improved as time went on, and has the skills to expand on what he has done in a professional environment. Worth retention if there are enough spots.

White is heart and soul and a workaholic. Lacks a little class, but a viable forward option bringing speed, tackling intent and absolute buy in. Would be a shame to let him go, but does seem the more “expendable”. He loves the club, and surely would be “happy” to return to the twos and wait for a possible vacancy to open up.

The addition of Ainsworth and possibly Hayward will reduce forward half opportunities for Young and White. Chesser will also impact their potential time higher up the ground, as would the acquisition of Ison.

BTW I find it laughable seeing the chorus calling for Frankie to be elevated. He has has one year on our rookie list and is eligible for two more. Both Cooper Lord and Hudson O’Keeffe are miles in front in the pecking order with more tenure. No chance Frankie is ahead of them. Both going in to third years by definition and will require uograde this year or next.

Thinking there is a fair chance we part with Elijah and McGovern. Binns had been linked with exploring options, and I still wonder at Boyd’s strange year regarding potential movement.

Will he make round 1 next season with his Achilles injury? Also wouldn’t be shocked if he goes to the backline again if we end up low on talls.
I'd have him where I had JSOS most of his career, 1st understudy for one of our taller forward spots (McKay, Moir [plays taller], O'K, Kemp) in that mix plus who ever else we get through trade.

Talent is there but like you I think he'll be in and out of the team as he builds from injury

Would be awesome if he sees his potential all the way through. With his athleticism and height, he’s an awkward match up for most defenders.

You just hope after his ACL + Achilles recently, it doesn’t limit him.

Forgotten about Binns and Boyd. Wonder if one or both, if not traded, might be paid out and delisted... not sure if Binns is what we need moving forward, and the whole Boyd situation has me mystified...

I assume Ainsworth in means the final nail in the coffin for Elijah (delisted and paid out), and that if Khamis comes in, McGovern is definitely gone.

That still leaves us 3 Senior spots less one surplus rookie, but we could solve all those problems by upgrading Evans when drafting Dean and Ison.

Having said that, I don't expect all 3 of the other uncontracted rookies to be retained. Perhaps one is released so we have a SSP place (for Stephenson if he shows something)? Dunno. We might still want to be looking at a couple of our NGA guys for rookie spots too.

EDIT: Late to the party, as ever...
If the draft is as weak as the experts have predicted we may just be happy to take Dean, ISON and one more

Read the article on Elijah in the Age. It is a reclusive alcohol probelm.
The article comes out to assist his trade prospects. However, based on the sentiment in the article and if there really is not a "partying" problem give him a 3rd chance Not sure where rumours of trust issues came from or the article is just his side of the story but compassion required

Going off your comments previously regarding list spaces, does the lack of list spaces make a multiple player trade for Charlie unrealistic?

Hayward and Florent for example plus picks, does that type of trade contradict our available list spots?

Was also wondering why we wouldn’t give Hollands until May to sort his life out, he’s contracted so we have to pay him regardless, why not put him in the VFL and ask him to take a weekly drug test or something to be able to play?

If he fails, you move him on and open up a MSD pick, if he fixes his crap, we have a quality player
Agree on Lij, however the club know far more than we do on what he has/hasn’t done, however I think we can comfortable that they have given him enough chances and if they are still wanting to fire him we have to back them in. The fact his brother is a well respected key part of the side, my guess that Ollie is content and probably supportive of how we have handled it. Would love Luu to come back and play 20+ games but he may have just burnt too many bridges and now needs to own his mistakes.

• EH - hopeful but not sounding good
• Gov - potential forward backup if CC goes
• WW - may be unlucky
• F.Young - deserves another
• Charleson - another year
• Evans - signed (?)

Fogarty - would there be any takers? Doubtful. Midfielder in the VFL as we’re short in that dept.
Binns - same as Fog, though could have more interest
Acres - can we get anything?

We’re still shedding lots of experience..

OFF (6): 1, 12, 14, 15, 19, 31
Rookie (1): 39

So far..
ON (3): Reidy, Chesser, Ainsworth
+ Khamis + Sydney player/s (?)
Draft (2): Dean & Ison.
  • Top draft pick?
  • NGA’s?

If we are concerned about list spots we could throw either/both into the Charlie trade and make it a requirement of the suitor to take on the ‘bad’ contract.

From afar, the club needs to do better here than throw him out.
