I just, I just cant come to grasp with how people have literally zero, zero understanding of historical trades on this stuff.
Let alone Draper getting pick 5…then again they paid enough for that potato Ben McKay to get the Roos pick 3 or whatever it was so maybe ha has a point

I think it just comes down to supporters wanting their players to be more valuable than their value actually dictates.

If Zac was playing like he is and he was 26 I’d give a deal like that serious thought…otherwise, **** no

Sure human nature, but they have clearly done the research to see what GC has AND are interested in player movement. I dont understand how you dont first think about what other trades have gone for before posting something on a public account linked to you that makes you look like a gigantic dumbass

Oh I wholeheartedly agree, but unfortunately common sense isn't always common anymore for some people.

Motlop - waiting on a better deal. (Eagles hopefully, Imagine him and Owies together)
Oh please make it happen.

Essendon would want Sean Darcy if they lose Draper and Merrett asks to go to Freo.

Terrible result for us in my opinion.

I think 2025 showed again that Luke Jackson isn't a first ruck and even barely fit Sean was able to set up wins.

What are you his counselor? If you brought in an elite, experienced midfielder who comes out? The above is just ducking the discussion.

You have lost me...

What im saying is we want to win premierships, not win the youngest age 22 competition.

Erasmus is a medium paced and below average skills inside midfielder. His ceiling isnt so high that we need to keep him at all costs. If we can get in a big bodied quality mid that will actually help us win the flag we should do it, Erasmus spot shouldn't even come in to consideration. If hes good enough he will get a spot in the side. If not he will need to wait for an injury, which is exactly the type of depth we need.

I think the exact opposite. LJ is 100% a first ruck who can easily play in other positions. He led the entire AFL in terms of centre clearances per ruck attendances when playing as the numbers one ruck according to Champion Data.

We don't make finals if Luke Jackson is our primary ruck in 2025.

There are more than a few games, particularly in the second half of the year, where Jackson was taken to school by his opponent and Darcy had to reassert physical dominance there.

Merret is worth 2 Sean Darcys.

If Merret swapped teams with Lachie Neale, Merret would be a dual brownlow medallist with a premiership medal hanging around his neck, hes every bit as good as Neale was.

Sorry but rubbish. He led the afl according to Champion Data when playing first ruck this year at centre clearances. All we would need is to recruit an adequate second ruck to make it work. Luke's ruckwork has been superb all year.

We lose to the Crows without Darcy.

We beat the Dogs because Darcy smashed English.

Luke Jackson was not effective in the ruck against Port.

Luke Jackson was not effective in the ruck against Pies.

I think it was Rowan Marshall spanking Jackson too against St Kilda.

Xerri was a class above Jackson against North too.

We don't beat Gold Coast without Darcy against Witts.

Some real rose coloured glasses on regarding his ability to compete.

Fremantle does not play finals in 2025 with Luke Jackson as the primary ruck. Champion Data rankings or not, we don't play finals.

I very much disagree. Not saying solo Jackson wouldn't work in the future (Tim English didn't really hit his peak until season 7 which is next season for the Unicorn. I see Jackson on a similar development path). This year however we would have lost at least 1-2 more without Darcy.

Just off the top of my head he was huge against the Suns and Roos (won both by under 12 points). Especially in the last quarter he allowed Jackson to go off the chain by wearing down Xerri/Witts.

If we had Merret instead of relying on a wagner or Johnson in the middle we likely finish on top of the table.

Not structurally to us, or to them if we are being honest. They need a ruck more than we need a gun mid.

He would have plenty of opportunity to get his hands on it playing half back with the ball game starting there more often.

Just no. On every count and stats back this up. Jackson dominated when playing as the No 1 ruck in 2025 and that's my point. Eg when Darcy wasn't in the side. Commentators were even saying how he seemed to relish the challenge. He is one of the best No 1 rucks in the AFL when he plays there.

It depends on high you rate Cripps, and how you think he will go the next 5 years, plus how much he will cost.

1. I think he costs multiple first round picks, plus 1million plus dollar.
2. He already can't spread from the contest well, and this will get worse.
3. He doesn't have great skills
4. He doesn't run out games well
5. I don't think he is type of player that plays well into his mid 30's, and he is ready 30. (31 by round 1 next year)

------------------------

1. Think he costs max 1 late first round, potentially not even that.
2. I think we can cover this, particularly for the upside it will give Serong in not being so easily tagged out at the contest.
3. He has far far better skills than Erasmus.
4. Maybe true, I think this is something we can cover though, we used Brodie successfully for a while until he got the new contract and downed tools.
5. Again, you might be right, but he doesnt rely on pace and agility as much as others, we just need a battering ram to support Serong.

If you are right and they want 2 firsts, zero chance I would do it. Given the increase in salary cap and how much other trade targets are getting, I probably would support 1m a season, maybe on a 2 year deal. I would think this trade really suits cripps though, he would be coming home to a team in contention.
