Also imagine if we hadn't given away a future first for an out of contract Jackson

Could've had Curtin as well.

It's fun to imagine.

And now I'm sad
Jackson was always costing two firsts with where we finished, its the fact we added more on top of two firsts that was garbage.

Like ive said heaps, we overpaid but got Jackson for unders

Id trade our first pick.Seriously. I think Rogers is an absolute gun and has hurt factor with ball in hand. He played a lot as a sub last year. so his stats don't do him justice. He is in my opinion the classiest player not playing regular AFL currently. Here is an example of what Im talking about.

Rogers reminds me a bit of where Dean Laidely was at years ago with WC. He is severely restricted by not being able to play his ideal role of on ball wing due to who he competes against to get a game. Eg Laidely competing against Worsfold and Mckenna.

Why are people saying he's a small forward? He would be a great get but he's a mid. We do need more outside run and skill but we are also desperate for a small forward.

Yet trying to tie Port’s pick 28 in the Brodie deal gets laughed at…

There’s easily a world where we do Brodie, 33 and 44 for 28 and say 66

It’s practically paying Port to take him off our hands.

Anyway, enough speculating from me.
I take back what I said, apparently Porr hate the draft so much they might not even draft anyone and just upgrade three rookies.

Maybe we can get that pick off them...

All I’m saying is don’t get your hopes up…
Even if he is traded I have zero expectations it will be to WA. We suck at attracting Victorian talent and we have been linked to zero players besides McVee which is just baffling. Even though we would have to pay overs in picks and salary, we are shooting ourselves in the foot by not chasing hard after players like Rogers.

He's from GC academy, not Victorian

from my memory of watching him play, seems to be a switta clone. can play that half forward pushing up to the contest role which is what we missed bad when switta was out or not in red hot form imo. clearly not a massive goal kicker, and if were moving reid into the mids rotation more, could use him to fill that void as well

They slide back 5 spots. Not like they ‘give up the pick’ altogether.

Although, I gather you’re being sarcastic.
No, I'm not, the fact you think I'm being sarcastic is odd...

If they have zero interest being in the draft at all, it means they might actually give up the pick in some way. because they'll want to move value to next year if we want to go down that route.

Alternatively I suppose, if they hate the draft that much, they are at best taking 1 pick in the draft and will do whatever they can to move it forward in the draft, not move it back.

Where is the ‘they hate the draft’ stuff coming from?

I've seen multiple Port posters mention it then this from Morris

"The Power won't do much following a productive few years in the trade space. Jacob Wehr will arrive from GWS, and Brodie from the Dockers. There's a genuine chance Jason Cripps doesn't even draft a kid on national draft night. Instead, they would upgrade three rookies."

Well in that case I also take back my ‘sarcasm’ comment. Based on the last couple of days, from my point of view, it seemed I have just been ridiculed for throwing up hypotheticals.

I would now say that we’re a near certainty to try and grab that 28.

Port may then try to trade 33 on draft night for someone’s future pick.

man how tf has josh jenkins wormed his way into the afl media - horrible

Id be thinking trying to ahead and move it for them if we could. I dont think you could a F2 from anyone for 28 so Brodie, 40 and an F3 for it?

I dont know, will be interesting to see what Port want to do.

I thought the AFL makes them draft 3 each!
Upgrading rookies is players already on a list, so I would've thought that's not allowable?
Rookie upgrades are essentially draft picks - they just aren't a live pick anymore.

It's a bit bizarre but I queried it with a few journos and they all said they count towards the 3 draft picks

Thought you need to take at least 1 live pick

People on social media reacting as expected:

"Next Meek"

"We got screwed"

"Should have kept Reidy and traded Darcy"

I genuinely don't understand these people's thought process.
Those on social media don’t even watch Peel.

He isn’t that special in which Meek could take on the play after the ball hits the ground. He’s just a crab.

Reidy struggled against any heavier ruckman such as Scott Jones. He gets 2-3 marks a game, which is damming at state league level.

The fact that he was dropped after round 1, not even persisted with at the start of the season, shows how far away he is from AFL level.
