Things can certainly change, but if Adelaide are offering money and success I don't see many other teams having that available for him. Crows missing out of Wanganeed-Milera and the over a million they had aside for him, while finishing top, opened the door for a unique position.

I'm sure all the clubs at the bottom can afford him, but he doesn't need to go to them to get paid.
Yep, can see teams talking to him to see if he changes his mind.

Can't see any team taking him if he doesn't.

Putting aside Brisbane shooting themselves in the foot, it feels crazy that Adelaide and Ah Chee's management are seemingly relying on the non-dickhead armistice btwn clubs to stop 1 of 13 clubs selecting him before them. There's been at least a fracturing of that today. Adelaide can play with the contract however they want, they can't stop West Coast matching that contract.

They're saying under the rules he is allowed to go to the PSD with a contract that is front loaded so heavily that no other club will be prepared to pick it up

So hawks lose worpel, CJ, serong and frost.

And add… nada.

Gunston, Barrass, all older. Really hoping Day can get over his injuries, aren’t they?

Yes, he can nominate his own terms. It could be $2m for one year. Then he signs an extension for four more years to level out the money. I don't know if the AFL cares if you change the initial contract value since there isn't any compensation picks attached.

I've said many times in the past it's your genuine B graders that are PSD material. They are the sort of players where the wage they have agreed is more than most clubs are going want to pay for a player of that ability, but the target club has a specific role in mind for them.
A graders can't go PSD as they would get poached, C graders for the same reason. Anyone would take them at their price.

I'm imagining the spit flying from between his gritted teeth

I know Sydney have a couple of academy kids and the drafts are slightly compromised particularly 2027. But they’ve given up a **** load for one guy, and they need to replace that depth and won’t have firsts for three years..

Curnow better be worth it

I heard that part and it'd stop clubs like us. But there are some clubs that have been generationally rubbish for a long time now, and I'm not sure who they're paying if any sort of front-load stops them.

Got to say after all I've said about Ah Chee, can't believe a future second rounder wasn't accepted, especially with the rumoured steak knives thrown in.

Bizarre move by Brisbane really. Slightly unders for an out of contract player seems better than losing him for nothing.

Worth a early-mid second rounder at best given his age and ability.

They'll get a first rounder through academy this year already

They’ll get a few back when Warner comes home.

such a grub, don't think ZM is going to take kindly to this either.

didn't we offer a super deal to Bont, so we must also have some very juicy cap space for the next two years for the right person?

Petracca: I’m over the drug culture at the Dees. Think I need a fresh start.

GC: Hey Trac, have you met Jamarra?
