You are 100% right.I think they'd keep the 3 talls 2 rucks structure the same and omac would come in as first choice. If omac wasn't available maybe it's change the thinking about structure

You are 100% right.
JL has no flexibility in his structures and refuses to make adjustments even when key personnel are not available.
Our forward structure has been 3 talls and for a long time they played depth. JL made a sight change with Treacy playing higher.Based on what?
We played at least 10 games this with out 1 of the rucks, or 1 of the key forwards, and I don't think we played 3 key forwards and 2 rucks once if one of them were out.
We certainly did not play 2 ruck after the first game, when Reidy played vs Geelong, but Jackson spent the majority of the 2nd half in the ruck.

The reason is our talls perform way better at Peel than any of the smallsOur forward structure has been 3 talls and for a long time they played depth. JL made a sight change with Treacy playing higher.
Still, it's a third tall forward line and JL won't alter that.
He played O'Mac as a key forward because of his inflexibility to change his 3 talls forward line.
I mean it's one of those things than can be a strength or a weakness depending on the context. You are 100% right.

If Sturt was available I reckon we would have seen him in at some point instead of Omac atleast
We have no smalls that are ready to come into the forward line, atleast none that outperform the talls
It's unusual as a Freo supporter to not be begging for talls lol
Problem isn't him, it's that an environment has been created where someone feels comfortable and safe enough to share information like that.I remember when Ben Hobbs was compared to Joel Selwood, not to rip into the lad but I never saw it. I doubt Selwood would be the type of player/leader to tell all interstate clubs he has no interest in leaving Victoria. Hope he gets another chance and it would be pretty ironic if it were an interstate club that picked him up.
I think if you enter a national draft and are prepared to get paid accordingly, to then let half the clubs know you don't want to play for them is a bit of a slap in the face. Archie Perkins and Bailey Smith also come to mind.Problem isn't him, it's that an environment has been created where someone feels comfortable and safe enough to share information like that.
Most of OMac’s games were Key Back. He played I reckon the 3 games earlier in the year (when Voss was suspended) as ruck relief and forward. The rest were whilst APearce was out. Draper was first choice but he was out of form for a bit there and rightly replaced him and did a good job. His form back at Perl particularly when settled as key back was excellent.Well, he was right. OMac played 7 games as a fill in third tall forward and we went 6-1
So 4 goals in 7 games is awesome.Well, he was right. OMac played 7 games as a fill in third tall forward and we went 6-1
Heppell and JJ combo.JJ delisted by the dogs, it’s time!?!?!
Brynn Teakle or Tom Fullarton would be my picks as break in case of emergency rucks. We absolutely need a back-up ruck, even if he's just a rookie pick or an SPP. While it's an absolute nightmare scenario to have Jackson and Darcy both injured, but we actually came pretty close to it in 2025 (had to rush Darcy back for rounds 6, 7, 8, to cover Jackson's hammy, when we'd have much rather slowly built Darcy's fitness through limited WAFL minutes). Darcy is, unfortunately, a lot more injury-prone than we'd like—so as soon as Jackson is out for any reason, things get very dicey indeed.
We cannot be running Treacy + Voss as rucks and expect to win any game against moderately competent opponents. There goes our midfield; there goes our forward structure.
You cannot allow a potential outcome of, essentially, automatically conceding games for the risk factor of (one quite injury-prone player gets injured or suspended)*(one non-injury-prone player gets injured or suspended). Even if that's a 1% chance, it's too much.

It was like 4 goals in 2 or 3 gamesSo 4 goals in 7 games is awesome.
If you draft one, then one you come off.
That's one too many "backup"s, which is the problem. We will have two rucks and they will both be playing AFL.Honestly disagree with this
Think Voss/Treacy/omac/riddle is a better AFL option than a state league ruck anyway
We are just wasting a list spot with a backup backup backup ruck
