There wasn't the need to play him since we always had 1 of the 2 monsters available in 2025, the round 1 experiment didn't work against Geelong's weak ruck division. This is going to be the case with any back-up ruck as there are not many teams with 2 AFL standard rucks who can solo ruck if required. Therefore I really don't think it's a big deal who we get if we find ourselves knee deep in injuries coming into a final, probably better with an experienced player rather than a WAFL journeyman.

I don't rate Jackson as a full time ruckman as highly as others, especially against the big bodied rucks. He also gets most of the ball on the follow up so he does it well for a couple of weeks then understandably fades. I think if Darcy gets injured, playing another AFL quality ruck/forward (horses for courses) would be a good idea. Especially if Darcy is out for any length of time. This all presumes Cox is playing well enough. Justin obviously didn't think Reidy was good enough.

If he was still AFL quality then the Pies would have kept him as back-up. They have a few 200cm rucks/KPP on their list who have never played a game plus Darcy Cameron.

As a rookie listed player though, biggest risk is that we can't help ourselves and take all the picks in the national draft before Whan is bid on late and we have to use our last spot (so no rookie draft picks) and that's our whole week done.

There's no joke in there at all about Mason Cox making our whole week. No matter how hard you look for it. So stop doing it.

35yo tall guy that hadn’t played any crash bang footy until he got here, hasn’t had any significant injuries, has been shown to be capable of playing at the level, hasn’t travelled interstate since he got here, comes from one of the most successful clubs in the country, is better than Reidy, will be cheap and is coming here with the clear understanding that he’ll be 3rd banana. I dunno seems like he’s worth a SSP spot to me
