It's not why we lost but yet again it was frustrating to see us trying to offload so often from under a tackle even when the ball carrier is the only Carlton player in the vicinity and there's no chance to retain possession - the HTB rule change still kind of sucks and I know we were pinged at least once tonight with little prior, but have a little faith in "no prior opportunity"

For a change I'm happy to see Walsh wasn't our worst offender in this

First time watching us live this year - I get the argument re recruiting but this is not about the cattle. Bill Walsh used to say you see what you have and make lemons out of lemonade, i.e., craft your game plan around the pros and cons of your list.

We have zero system. 4th year coaching and you don’t have a system. Players are like headless chooks, they don’t know what to do next. That is such an indictment. It’s embarrassing to watch and I feel for them.

I’m not a rash sack the coach person, if you’re the leader of anything you need to get the best of your employees. But you also need to have the judgement and courage when it becomes clear someone is over their head. Voss is not capable.

The worst thing that happened to us, as fun and cathartic as it was, was our 2023 run. It covered up the fact that change was required.

I got downvoted for saying I'd hoped Voss' carlton would bring some pride into the jersey again. That we'd start getting up even another notch for milestone and rivalry games but the exact opposite had happened. We've continuously lost to all the main rivals and continuously been insipid in milestone games under him.

At the very least that screams that he is in fact not a leader of men nor a good motivator.
I think it's a whole of club issue. We have strayed too far from making the winning of premierships our number one aim. Just about everything we do as a club should be with that goal in mind. It's what the club exists for.

Am I in the minority thinking Docherty played alright for us tonight? Sure his first few weeks have been below par but thought tonight was a step in the right direction for him. Looked a bit more like the 22-23 version of Doch.
He has to know he has no chance to play in a premiership the way both he, and the team are going. He had the chance to kill Nick Diacos and be a Carlton legend. And he pulled out.

Time to retire.

Cripps 1 clearance. Has he ever had such a poor game?

16 disposals at 56% efficiency.

Absolute train wreck from him.
Yeah. When he wanted bolts / Teague sacked. I watched him v giants that game.... stood in the middle of the ground shouting at a runner and at bolts. Ignoring a live game going on around him. Had like 14 that day. Club said he was injured.....

When your opponent changes tactics to clog up and block your kicking avenues to move the ball forward, your structure needs to change as well to allow a running and possession based game to keep moving the ball forward.

We did not do this.
We actually did the opposite.
And we have for the last 4 weeks straight, which just doesn't make any sense.
Whatever the strategy is it is neither obvious nor effective, other than to slow the game down and have a rest even though we just had a half-time break.
I don't think we can simply change or game plan mid-season, Voss or no Voss.
This year is looking like a complete waste at the moment.
Not to mention the conditions became more difficult but we were unable to adjust. We were set on going through the middle, they clogged it up and we tried to keep doing it in the pissing rain…

Just got home from the MCG. Haven't ever left so early before in all my life. Weather didn't help and myself and family weren't undercover so that didn't help.
Don't know where to begin and haven't seen much in this thread so far, but the major questions I have are why were we trying to play dry weather football in wet weather? Rinse, repeat, fade, lack of desire and heart. Willingness to compete isn't there and that is unforgivable.

The worst bit, Hawks have our 1st and 2nd picks with our trade values of players deteriorating at a rapid rate.

I tell a lie, this is the worst bit. When you're so angry at something or someone and you go to raise your voice and the energy or the effort just isn't there because you know it's a lost cause, that's where we are at as Blues supporters, members and fans.

Here's a quick question for us all, where are the players or any players that are available that has any speed whatsoever?

You can't train composure, we have too many players who fold when under pressure.
This is categorically wrong. Coaches are there to have players so well drilled that they can play without second guessing within their system, they know where everyone's supposed to be and their release passes etc. It's literally how you build composure. Some players have different abilities to reach different levels of it but when a whole team exhibits none it's so painfully obvious coaching. It's literally taught as part of the coaching pathways. Good systems structures and calm play = composure even for a quick panic / high anxiety player

You can absolutely change a gameplan midseason. They all get tweaked. But you need to do the fundamentals right first. Which we don’t.

Agree with the rest of your post.

I like Vossy - but I think he has some pretty ordinary support staff.

It was obvious that Collingwood played the conditions much better in Q3 - and slowed the game down into a contested game and won teh contests and then just peppered the Carlton defense massive inside 50 count - which poitns a finger at teh midfield being smashed - Collingwodo pretty mcuh won every clearance in that quarter- so somethign went badly wrong and wasnt adressed or couldnt be fixed..

If you cant win the contest and ball and get out pressured and cant handle it- you lose territory and starve yourself and die.

I dint think Collingwood could be the Carlton midfield so convincingly - that is a real problem lucky Hewett and Cerra played really well when the heat was on because their team mates really coudlnt handle the heat- no doubt Cripps was not able to move for the second half - that impacted. Same for Walsh goo firt half and then ran out of legs.

Brigt spot was White who shjoed some forwad smarts - not the best game to debut in and handlesd it well. Moir was unsighted and Lord faded. Ollie for the most part played well but was horrible in some important one on ones - Docherty started off well played ok for a quarter and absolutely crumbled by Q3.

Lots of issues - nothing I saw today changed my mind about the horror of the unbalanced list a combination of a graders ordinary developed players and kids learning the ropes whilst having to wear the stoopid of so manhy senior players.

Woudl eb a huge mistake replacing Voss and blaming him for what the players are putting out there - but that isme loking from teh outside.
