You're up against the greatest catchall in footy - "gameplan".
So Pies won the contested ball and clearances in the 3rd?
Bit late but there was a lot wrong with the midfield setups... Probably a line coach tactical choice leading up.
Buuuut. Yeah. Why not? Why are the stars playing so bad if not for a bad or poor environment? Basic shit being missed every game. Basic errors. Lack of disciplines....
Or we could just go get a new bunch of stars. ** off Cripps. ** off TDK. Bye weits, Ciao Charlie. Let's get a new group and watch something different happen.... Or wait.... Nah. I promise it won't be the same result! It'll definitely be the same environment that's led this group to this status though.... Ahhhh who cares.
Not like this group could make a prelim and be a kick or two away from a granny either. They're clearly no good.... (What was 2023 I forgorrrrrrrrrr)...
You invest in companies with good managers and management. That's been Buffets whole shtick. Sustainable acquisition and development of talent in a corporate sense is much easier with good management. Gee I wonder if the world has anymore parallels.... Probably not.... I guess if you hire three quants with great previous success or high marks and they fail under your managers watch I guess you can blame 'the current market's because no one else is doing any good (but that's wrong) or you can twist it and say well clearly they're not that good (derp) or you can look at the framework of the company and why 3 talented employees are putting up donuts. Pretty sure I know who's getting fired/ restructured there.... If it was sub 1/3rd of the team you'd blame the team members for not stepping up and replace them. When it's >50% you've got other issues. Surprising how hard that is to grasp.
Interesting insight. What if I told you that winning Premierships (and games of footy) to a lot of these 'stars' isn't that important? What if I told you a key player has been sitting out due to another strike? What if I told you, I live essentially next door to one of our stars, and after going 0-4 and losing to Collingwood Thursday, there was a stack of empty cartons of grog on their front porch by Saturday?
You can mount the exact argument about the coaching group. Why don't we get another one? That'll fix it - wait we tried that twice already. Again.. what if I told you winning isn't that important to these guys? You can't coach intrinsic desire at this stage of their careers.
Carlton fans need to stop referencing single games, single seasons & single finals series as sufficient 'evidence' of what the group are capable of. A game is 4 quarters, a season is 23 rounds + finals. Just because Josh Honey kicked 3 and looked elite for 2 quarters, doesn't mean he's destined for a great career. Just because our players had a hot streak in 2023, doesn't mean they're capable of doing the same thing every year, surpassing the 17 other clubs trying to do the same thing.
I really do dislike the comparison with the corporate world with footy clubs. They are not remotely similar. It's like businessmen who think they can master politics - it's just an entirely different game.
