Taylor Adams was one of the Swans' best in their 45-point loss to Geelong on Sunday, racking up 23 disposals and a game-high nine tackles.

Corey Warner was Sydney's busiest with 36 disposals and seven clearances, Matt Roberts had plenty of ball with 30 touches, Riley Bice kicked one goal to go with 24 disposals and eight marks, and Caleb Mitchell had it 23 times and took nine marks.

Big utility Aaron Francis also took nine grabs and racked up a handy 22 disposals while helping out Will Green (24 hitouts, 10 touches) in the ruck.

Small forward Tom Hanily brought offensive pressure with seven tackles to complement 14 disposals and a goal, and Blake Leidler slotted two majors from his 12 touches.

Ned Bowman (14 disposals, seven marks) and Indhi Kirk (13 touches and six tackles) were the only other senior Swans in action.

Disastrous year from all involved tbh

It certainly wasn't pretty but a bit of a step up from the last two seasons.... while they were clearly not up to standard, they at least looked like they were playing Aussie Rules which hasn't been the case under Truslove.

You can only work with the cattle you're given and clearly over the last couple of years, our drafting hasn't provided the nucleus for a decent side with reliable, capable players across all three lines. Add the lack of quality to draw on from the local comp, the horrendous injury toll early in the year, and the shortage of coaching staff... I don't think it's been a total disaster.

Agree tho, there isn't a lot of positives to come out of it.

Do you agree with my theory of bringing 2 or 3 A grade VFL of seriously good local players from VIC .
Get them jobs and accommodation

Oh, for sure. Easier said than done tho.

There are better players around the Sydney comp than those we are currently using but what's in it for them to come across? Greater commitment... less camaraderie... being ignored on the field by listed "stars".... better to just hang around and play locally with mates?

Rusty Crate said earlier in the year that his nephew, Hamish, who proved very capable last year, didn't feel part of the team.

A few others like Sheather and Hebron have moved over to the Giants... not like they have more money than us to keep decent players around. Just think the environment around our twos is on the nose.

Even for Laidler to move across town, having coached us to 4th place with a 13-5 record, suggests something ain't right.

And now probably 1 less club going forward

I didn't watch more than a few minutes of this game. How did Matt Roberts manage to amass 38 possessions and yet not be named amongst the Swans' "best"?

No problem with that assessment for me.

Leidler might be a little fortunate to be included but he probably deserved a bit of recognition for what was his best game for the club so far. Others were worthy.

In our AFLW side, Montana Ham is on a UNSW scholarship and Sofia Hurley a USyd one. Pretty sure the club would've had a part to play in this happening. Could we not do something similar to get a couple of good VFL players up here?

Leidler was robbed of a goal when the siren went a millisecond before he marked in the goal square. So mark him down for 3 goals on merit.

He looked really good up forward and didn't seem to have any trouble getting on his own. He is also a very good long accurate kick. I've jumped on his bandwagon
