It won't be two first rounders, norf are pulling their own chainI think a future first is acceptable. But two is too much, even if we get a high second round back. We would need at least a second and third round back imo.
You are replacing A Graders in all those positions though. That doesn’t just happen . We should probably add Degoey to that list a couple more season before his body is potentially no longer serviceable.I agree with the sentiment, but I don’t see it being so dire beyond next year. I would hope the addition of Simpkin could offset the decline/ loss of Steele or Crisp given he was able to have a greater output this year than them.
Perryman moving into the midfield and hopefully being replaced by Parker would mitigate the demise of Pendles.
We only need one youngster such as R Steele or Allan to come on or McCreery to put it all together along with another pro scout recruit or two post 2026 and all 5 holes are potentially addressed as early as 2027. It’s not insurmountable.
I would worry about a gym session with Goodwin, the people he associates is why he has had issues in the past or maybe still the present. Either way not a good idea.Aside from the absolute nonsense of wanting to throw two firsts at him, you do understand that Melbourne have absolutely no say in the club he goes to, right? We aren’t in the US where teams can just trade players without their consent.

I agree. I reckon that's got hairs on it. Goodwin couldn't get him to train properly when he was coachI would worry about a gym session with Goodwin, the people he associates is why he has had issues in the past or maybe still the present. Either way not a good idea.
Tigers must have thought all their christmases had come at once. This was a ridiculous move at the time, and somehow even looks worse now.
I was torn. He was a potential quality forward I wanted at Collingwood. He was a one way runner, lazy and screaming at VFL team mates when he left. The latter was training for his time at Geelong.Henry Played 15 odd games for us in 22. His value was destroyed by the fact everyone in the AFL knew he was hellbent on getting to Geelong and didn't want to play for anyone else. I think he could well end up as one of the biggest wasted talents of the last 5 years.
I'm not being nasty but I wouldn't be surprised if Ollie is on the lower end of the spectrum.I was torn. He was a potential quality forward I wanted at Collingwood. He was a one way runner, lazy and screaming at VFL team mates when he left. The latter was training for his time at Geelong.
I prefer the more comfortable approach of trashing Geelong and Mackie. It’s nourishing.Henry lost his spot to Ash Johnson didn’t play in the finals and then we went out and recruited McStay and Hill.
He wasn’t in the best team by the end of 2022 and was further down the pecking order after our recruitments.
Getting a future first for a flakey outside marking forward that has a limited ground level game, doesn’t apply any pressure and wasn’t in our best 23 was always a fantasy.
That’s a fair positionI prefer the more comfortable approach of trashing Geelong and Mackie. It’s nourishing.
We don't need a player that plays the position of Hollands. And that's before taking into consideration his off field issues.GCS are taking a punt on JUH on their terms.
Why can’t we do the same with Elijah Hollands? He’s a very good footballer.
We’d need to do our extended DD just like GCS have with JUH.
Unlikely to be quite so compromised given the new rules. Teams with early bids to match will have to use good picks to match them with. Could actually make 2026 second rounders more valuable tbh.The early word is that the first round will be compromised yet again.
No to Simpkin. Keep our picks and give Ed Allan a proper run in the midfield.
I agree with this.No to Simpkin. Keep our picks and give Ed Allan a proper run in the midfield.
You’re replacing their 2025 output which had us 14-2 and 10 points clear. Keep that up and we’re premiers. None of those 5 were A graders at that point aside from Elliott and Steele for an early run of games. You are replacing A Graders in all those positions though. That doesn’t just happen . We should probably add Degoey to that list a couple more season before his body is potentially no longer serviceable.
They’re Old so no longer A grader’s physically - therefore easy to replace on that metric. You are replacing A Graders in all those positions though. That doesn’t just happen . We should probably add Degoey to that list a couple more season before his body is potentially no longer serviceable.
Is he really committed to GWS - or just going to a NSW Club to be near Goodwin?I would worry about a gym session with Goodwin, the people he associates is why he has had issues in the past or maybe still the present. Either way not a good idea.
100% agree with your takeI should clarify by saying that simpkin makes sense to me, it doesn't mean we should persue him. I think he'll improve us and if the club agrees then cool. If not, no sleep will be lost by me. Now, how do we get this Humphrey fellow to talk
I see what you did there. You’re a funny old fellow.I should clarify by saying that simpkin makes sense to me, it doesn't mean we should persue him. I think he'll improve us and if the club agrees then cool. If not, no sleep will be lost by me. Now, how do we get this Humphrey fellow to talk
A Hogan type reform, easily makes Holland an A grader. He’s the full package. We don't need a player that plays the position of Hollands. And that's before taking into consideration his off field issues.
