Disappointing to lose either Sullivan or Cox but it’s been obvious all year that list spots will be tight. I’d actually prefer to keep them both over Ryan and HDM as they’re more relevant senior depth, but they’re both contracted so not going to happen.

Probably not. It’s arguably a luxury to have a backup for a long term injury to Cameron. Likely Cox has finished at Collingwood and the long term backup will be one of Steene or Smit with the Mid Season draft also an option in a worst case scenario

Picking up Blight might also allow Frampton to be an emergency option as he has beeN in the past.

The hint was “We now have bought in a key forward who can pinch hit (in) the ruck.”. The plan is for Buller to play that role. West (or Maynard) as the Mihocek med tall and McStay KPF, as recruited.

Five on the bench helps, given the talent of our mediums (Elliott and De Goey) and Hill, Schultz, McCreery etc

I am around and I do have a view.

I agree with Prag and I have my own intel on him. I did not want him to be an AFL footballer and there are very personal reasons for that. He has a long history of second chances and taken none of them. His football has some good but many areas to improve, as identified by St Kilda fans. Avoid.

What would you expect a list manager to say? Shit I ****ed up and couldn’t get a defender?

We need a fair amount of luck with Moore & Howe especially- Reef isn’t the answer, neither is McStay who can’t get on the park and never plays back!

Not really. He was thrown around late in the season which is usually a sign a player is on the way out or at the very least on notice. Played wing and midfield, some defence. He’d only be on a very small contract. The decision to delist him wasn’t made today, happened a few weeks ago.

We went out and recruited someone nearly 10 years younger than him to play the role he was playing. The club told him to try and find a spot at another club (which he couldn’t). How does it not make sense to you?

The thing that has worked against Phillips is that North kept drafting mids, so Sheezel, Wardlaw, LDU, Simpkin, Parker and maybe others are ahead of him in the pecking order.
And even Simpkin has been pushed out as a mid.

There are several things that work against Phillips. 1. He struggles to find the football so they moved him to a defensive/ tagging mid. 2. He has limited tank so when he fatigues he is shot. Case in point against us last year. He had a good 1/2 tagging Daicos but he could not keep up with him and NM subbed him off. Daicos was let off the chain. 3. 61% of his possessions are HB's 4. 50 games in 5 years in a bottom side incl. 10 as a sub (6 times subbed off) and in two of the 10 games as sub he did not play a minute. 5. He has limited capacity to play other positions 6. He has not solidified a position within the team after 5 years. 7. Callum Brown like vibes

Given the Marshall trade failed and they are seeking an experienced mature ruck, it's a possibility if we delist him and he goes into the pre-season draft.

He is fringe depth, one of the first in, and I think it would be a mistake for us to delist him.
