We certainly pay overs. I suspect it's due to the rarity of players actually wanting to come here that we're in the mindset of we can't let it fall over.

The other clubs would be well aware of this too.
Absolutely and another reason for player agents to play us off other clubs/current club to get their player a superannuation nest egg..

When we become relevant again we’ll (hopefully) be able to get out of this loop.

In some deals we SAF do.

43 for Parker and Konstanty isn't looking too bad on the flip side.

We should stick to trading with those with Academies - it's that simple.

Stating the obvious here but herein lies a very very big problem that is still festering at this club. Our talent ID for mature players is just not up to scratch. There is no club in the land that has an eye for potato’s like we do. Every one of these trade reeks of desperation. My point is, if the player doesn’t have a scope for development or already has proven weaknesses (with no obvious elite traits) then they shouldn’t even be on our radar.

Let’s have a look at the quality of players we’ve recruited and the draft picks we’ve given up for them vs Adelaide

North:

Daniel - Pick 25
Fisher & pick 17 - Pick 21 & 25
Tucker - Future 3rd
Logue - Future 2nd & Future 4th
Stephens & pick 19 - Pick 25
Corr - Free Agent
CCJ - Pick 19

Adelaide

Dawson - mid first round pick
Peatling - Future 2nd, F3 & F4
Alex Neal-Bullen - pick 28
Cumming - Free Agent
Keays - DFA

The difference is stark and embarrassing.
thanks brady

Hi Kangas fans,
Hope you don’t mind me posting on here

Just asking the question , out of contract end of next year and you have a plethora of midfielders
What’s the cost to Adelaide if they chased Tom Powell this year instead of next ?
You don’t have a 1st rounder this year , would our 2025 1st + 2026 2nd get us to the table ?

I really rated him in his draft year and hoped at some point he’d want to head home

Considering this years draft is looking like a crap shoot and you guys are looking at being at the pointy end of the ladder, I doubt it would be enough. Your first rounder this year after bids is likely to push into the 20’s and next years 2nd would likely be in the 30’s. We desperately need to retain players who are pushing that 100 game bracket, so I’d say Powelly would be more valuable to us than that.

You may need to recruit Bradly Rawlings to ensure it happens :p

tom McDonald, not getting a game at melbourne and still a pretty good defender who could teach our young defenders.

Fair enough

Why the hate for Powell ?

Accountability is probably his biggest issue at the moment. Defensively (especially on the spread) he is too reactive and slow. Just doesn't gut run when he needs to help out team mates.

Also, his disposal isn't as creative as what it was earlier in his career. Has this habit of blazing away and wasting disposals particularly around the stoppages.

With that being said, he has plenty of supporters and still has a bucketload of upside. Just needs to improve his running capacity and decision-making ball in hand.

Darren Burgess would help here
