West looks like a young Jonathan Brown, with a bit of Hawkins. Big lump of a lad, and excited to see how he performs in the intra-club and practice matches, which l presume he will get a run in....
Will Hayes is really impressive. Could be a surprise packet this season, as he has a very good skill base. Excited to see how he goes early on in the VFL, because with some strong performances there, he may get senior footy this year...

He’s definitely got that Hawkins/ Fogarty/ Jono Brown solid core and legs about him.crikey that Charlie West is a big solid boy for his age.
Cloke was probably the last 18 year old key forward at the pies that looked that physically ready that early on
Good news also that young Hayes is not over awed either
Successful draft if one of those late 3 picks plays 50 games… hopefully more in it than that for the pies
There’s no way he’ll be able to cover the ground well enough to push out any of Mihocek, Cox, McStay or Membrey. The big positive though based on absolutely scant footage is he can read the ball in motion well enough to get in behind a training version of Moore who is still an athletic freak of nature and able to close space easily on a kid like West.
For all those that gnashed their teeth over losing Joey Richard’s jump on the Hayes bandwagon nice and early. It’s an immediate live example of why it’s fine to lose those 20-30 list ranked players while they have currency. If McInnes can show a bit down back he’s the next to help with currency towards Rowell.

Often how line breakers play though, unpredictable. They just ‘take off’ and run, open up the field.

I'm glad you made the Hawkins comparison with West. That's who I see him playing very similar to, without putting pressure on the kid. He's got the right mix of a great build, strength and speed.
Although they aren't similar players stylistically, I think we've found our Sidebottom replacement with Hayes. His footy IQ, speed and skills stand out the most.
And then there's Cochran. We've seen very little of him so far, but watching Jen’s and Swoop’s footage from recent training sessions and all that I've read about him in training reports, it seems like he’ll be a player once given some time.
The opposition fans and media can underestimate our young talent all they want.

I had Cochran as the one l could see playing senior footy first out of our draftees, but with him going through rehab earlier in the pre-season, he may have dropped down the pecking order.
I now think Hayes will be the first to debut, and l think that could be earlier in the season rather than later....
