Pre-season training: Wednesday Feb 5th.

Absent players:

  • Cox
  • Hayes
  • DeMattia

Rehab:
  • Mitchell
  • Jordy
  • Reef
  • Dean
  • Macrae

I thought today was gonna be match sim, and yeah there was toward the end. But the umpires were also there for specific drills I hadn't seen before. The new drills revolved around centre bounce.
These centre bounce drills had two rucks, but then the players around them was all sorts. Not just mids, but forwards and defenders. I didn't thin we'd see a day when checkers was in the ruck lol

It was more focused on fundamentals and skills, with some match play thrown in.

During match sim, we had to get Otten and Jetta to fill in given Dean, Fin, Reef didn't participate. Pendles didn't either, he had left the track before then wth his foot issue.

During one of the defensive drills, something must have happened to Cochrane, as he left the track with a trainer, so maybe a knock. Hopefully he's okay.

In terms of the rehab group:
Jordy and Mitchell were only outside briefly. Just walked around and kicked the ball. Then must have went inside as I didn't spot them again.
Reef I think is coming up to his 12 days protocols, so Id think come Friday he should be back in full training. He did a fair amount today just the non contact drills. He then did some running and agilty work to the side.

Dean ( Broken? Nose) and Fin did some running on the boundary, and then helped out with some of the drills kicking the ball to the defenders/forwards.
Harrison continued through his indvidual rehab along with the boys.

Match sim:

Wingers.

Lippa (black), Sidey (White)
Crisp (Black), Markov (White)
The rucks swapped between DC, Steene, Roo and Mcstay.
Mids: Beau, Nick, Perryman (black). Allan, Long, Sullivan (White)

Defenders. (White) Frampton, Jetta, Ryan, TJ, Parker
Forwards: (Black), Otten, West, Steene, Hill, Johnson

Other end:

Forwards (white). Checkers. Mcstay. WHE. Schultz. Jamie. Membrey
Defenders (Black) Houston. Moore. Josh D, IQ, Maynard, Howe

DC
and Steene would rotate through the ruck, and vice versa with Smit and Mcstay.

Keep all of this news coming! I'm back in the Middle East doing some more English Teaching - very quick decision for me, but I'll miss the training and the games of course. These training reports, and those by Luke will be worth their weight in gold.
Stay safe! Spread the good word gospel of the flaming Carringbush to the unbelievers!

Its minor niggle. He had his thigh strapped on Monday, so I'm not sure. But he might be back into full training tomorrow.

"De Goey, who played just 13 games last season plagued by a groin issue, has sights on Round 0 against GWS Giants in Sydney, with any pre-season appearances rated “see how we go” propositions.

Collingwood has a practice game against Gold Coast on February 20 in Queensland and a Community Series Match on February 26 at Princes Park against Richmond.

“We’ll see how we go (pre-season games) … no rush on that,” de Goey said."

“Obviously I’ve had the groin for a long time now, that’s just come good.

“I don’t really want to risk anything at this stage, let the leg heal and go from there.

“Let it recover, let it heal, it’s just bone bruising at the end of the day, like any bruise it will settle at some stage and I should be ready to go from there.”

De Goey sustained the innocuous bone bruise in a training incident last week.

“The body is actually alright, unfortunately I got a bit of bone bruising to my leg,” de Goey said.

“We didn’t know about it early on but we do know now … I’ll probably be back running, hopefully tomorrow (Friday), and back into the full program by the end of next week.”
