Gold Coast? The team we lost to by a kick up in Queensland because we kicked 11 straight behinds to start the game, only kicking our first goal halfway through the 3rd quarter?

The number of ways that game could've gone differently and resulted in us winning are unbelievably numerous.
I find it odd that you edited out my reasons for GC and still asked the question of why?

You didn't give a reason beyond "who knows? maybe..." which I do not find particularly persuasive.
Then what further enlightenment were you expecting by following up?

Witts dominates Cameron allowing Rowell and Anderson to get on a tear? Miller plays out the game? Collins comes in and has a similar impact as he did v Fremantle? Humphrey lights it up? They’re a dangerous young team that’ll be playing on emotion and we have little to no idea how they’ll handle the occasion. The fear of the unknown bothers me 🤷‍♂️

This could be correct, or they might shit the bed in front of 93000 rabid Collingwood supporter

I’m coming around to the idea of preferring the lions. Cameron is woefully out of form, hipwood injured, Payne injured,Neale out.

Suddenly their midfield becomes reliant on mccluggage and Rayner playing a blinder (which of course he can)

Forward line relies on Morris as a tall.

Gold Coast relies on how they handle the occasion because they have talent everywhere… would I rather that or a wounded lions outfit?

end of the day none of the teams left will be an easy win. Thats why they are the last 4 in it

We are in such a good spot on this side of the finals draw. Whichever of Bris/GC we face will be drained physically/emotionally.

We're certainly in the box seat, provided that our tall forwards can make a much more meaningful scoreboard impact than they did against the Crows. We wouldn't want to have to rely on Jamie and Sidey kicking another 7 goals between them.

That is possibly the most appealing part of our forward line.
We don't particularly rely on one single player week in, week out.
Any number of five or six players could pop up with three goals, when it is their turn.

The unknown is our point of difference.

Do you think they draw straws before the game to see who should kick the goals?

Geelong is the real elephant in the room. Hawthorn might not even make through this week
But everybody acknowledges the danger of Geelong and how tough they'd be to overcome. I have found on this forum that many Pie fans express anger when the issue of the Hawthorn club's hold on us over a period of six decades is raised. I don't think you can change this narrative unless you are acknowledging the reality first.

Not so much anger as frustration at Hawthorn’s so called ‘hold’ over us being raised again and again and again. And here I am contributing to it!

I think we will smash Hawthorn if we meet them in the finals. I’m not convinced their footy is made for finals. They have a smart coach, and he will get them there sooner rather than later, but not yet. We haven’t finished this current run of success under Fly.

Week at a time. The “ bogey sides” are on the other side of the draw so we just need to make sure we get there before we worry about who our opponent might be.

Just need to see first who we meet in the prelim. I think I’d rather we meet Brisbane because they look a little broken. Suns on the other hand are inexperienced. I’m happy with either.

I'm not angry, I just think Geelong is better than hawthorn. I just don't fear hawthorn. I actually don't fear Geelong either but they'll be much harder to beat than a hawthorn who's travelled interstate twice and then have to beat Geelong as well, they'll be cooked by the GF

Written the Crows off?

I agree. I think the Crows win tonight and with the shackles released don't write them off against Geelong. They didn't fluke 18 wins in the home and away season
The Crows couldn't beat us, I can't see them beating hawthorn either. I reckon we broke them and hawthorn had them on toast last time in Adelaide but shit the bed in the last quarter with a weaker side than they have now
