Well, as a gross oversimplification, we lost the GC final due to one of Switta being absent, Freddy having no selection pressure and Banfield being a best 22 HBFer.

In Sweid, Murray and McVee all of these problems have been addressed, we should handily win a final this year.

If we can find an AFL calibre wingman in our ranks a Prelim beckons

I agree

But finding a decent winger won't be easy

Yep
Even Simpson

Sounds like young Murray has got a tank

6:40 2km is 20 seconds behind the best in the draft, I would guess Sharp would be 20-40 seconds in front of them as well.

I think he will be a few preseasons before he can play wing.

It will be interesting to see how they all go in the 2k in the first week of training

Yep 6.12 for Sharp at the 2019 AFL combine (he smashed the whole combine...AFL disposal and decision making, not so much), 6.25 for Sweid. If 6:40 is right for Murray sounds like he is a long way off the tank for a wing. Even the high half forward role can be extremely taxing stamina wise, if you want to will yourself to contests and then run back and kick goals. I'd say Dylan Moore is the best at it and he had 6.09 in the 2km time trial in 2017.

I think Sharp and Moore would have improved significantly since their draft combine.

That was more my point, that the chance of drafting someone who starts day one as a wing is very small.

Toby Whan, however, ran a 6.11 at the recent state combine, which is right in the sweet spot. Wall's seems to be suggesting he may be able to compete for a wing spot next year..

"He's a real professional and he's been in the programs all the way through,” Walls said.

“He's done senior pre-seasons with South Fremantle, he's a strong runner, played some senior footy, is a left footer on the wing and gets up and down the ground really well.”

Cox isn't coming over for just a year. It's a smart call given Darcy's injuries and Jackson looking to further adjust his role with more midfield time

We may even be able to rest Darcy and ensure he actually makes our his ridiculous contract
Load management for Darcy is a great idea. Cox to play in some away games and 5 day breaks.

He may be able to keep similar that pace for 3 x 2K though where others will fall off. His coach says he consistently clocks 14-15kms per game so he can run

Just a query but did Murray attend the State combine. The Walls information on him seemed to indicate that he did a private TT for Freo. It is harder running it by yourself.

But likely some fitness and conditioning upside with involvement in a professional environment.

I agree though he is a way off wing but definitely looks ready to play half forward and make an impact.

Whan with his running capacity definitely able to compete for Wing spot.

Where's the chat about him playing wing coming from?

Everything I've seen and read so far from both club and player suggest he's a genuine forward and likely best suited as such.

He was a full time mid and then transitioned into a forward /mid in the past two seasons. That's when Wallsy started really paying attention
