I sort of just think this is just who he is - he has grunt, but no composure, poor skills, little ability to find it. He doesn't stand out at this level at all. Would like to be wrong but I'd be surprised if he got more than a token contract offer.

I kind of agree with this take. Though, I think to be fair, he is capable of moments of class where he can out tough or out explosive an opponent. It's a bit like Fogarty, there are a couple of things here and there that keep you coming back, but below the surface, he's a deeply flawed footballer. The type who's ceiling is a 5th-6th forward as a small.

If only Pedlar was the kind of guy you can trust to shut down an opposition ball mover. Then you get into Ah Chee territory and a very sneakily handy player. Or alternatively, someone who just produced a fair bit more pressure/tackle output as a pest-like forward. Just something else to that profile beyond an ok offensively, ok defensively type.

Hard to say with a new person in charge. If it was Justin Reid, he probably gets 1 more year, however with Roughhead and looming expansion drafts, we may be eager to hit the draft hard this year (on top of trading in players).

You seem to have a chip on your shoulder with regards to him.
I do.

The guy has so much talent and should be a key part of our mix moving forward.

Hes been cruelled by injuries which of course isnt his fault, but hes a mile off the footballer he should be. Doesnt work hard enough, doesnt get himself involved enough. Taylor has blown past him.

Oscar being easily moved off the ball explains why Hugo was played against Geelong.

Hinge not looking great.
Disagree on Hinge. He has been our best attacking player from defence, by far, too good for SANFL.
The main problem with him today is that the umpire flogs have taken a dislike to him and paid non-existent frees against him every time he is in the vicinity of the ball.

Does Hinge look lighter? May help with his back issues, not sure it helps him as a defender.

As long as it helps his running and kicking ability, you can always look past the defensive part being slightly weaker. The defensive system does a lot to cover these kind of deficiencies.

ROB playibg like 2005 Dean Cox

Are you?

Kicked 2 very nice goals. Been involved with defensive pressure and ball movement.
At half time he had the lowest number of possessions of any of our AFL listed players, thats workrate.

As I said, he doesnt have any issues kicking a goal, his issue is getting enough of it to matter.

God Ludowyke is going to be a gun key forward at AFL level once his body catches up to him.

So…so much more to footy than stats.

There is no way known Pedlar's getting delisted this offseason. You cutting our list 7 or 8 deep, cos I can think of several players that you can make a case should go before him.

We will make the bare minimum of list changes.

Why? Because we already have a young as hell list. We've been trading in experience, so we wont want to make ourselves any less experienced than we have to.

We've taken only two draftees in each of the last two drafts and I suspect it'll be one, two or max 3 this year (we haven't taken more than 3 since 2020)
