Jamarra at 1.
Washcroft at 2
Uwland at 2.
Sam Darcy at 2.
Harry Dean at 3.

Also very different rules now. Not sure if you can still go into deficit, but if you can and Port/Carlton finish below you next year, you could then push their 2027 first rounder back and jump them?

Assuming Butters goes to the dogs, and the Dogs and Swans both make prelims they will be looking at 985-1100 points (could be compensation picks), so they would both need to finish bottom 4 to avoid going into that deficit.

500 point deficit can move them from pick 1 to 2. 2 to 4. 3 to 7.
I feel with the discount removed the historically impactful drop has wavered.

I wonder if teams with multiple players eligible would be far more willing to go into deficit than to try and match easily.

posted this in the 2027 thread but applies here as well
what a disaster its been for the Coates, TAC Cup, Talent League since AFL app takes over

cant even find it and have to search via google to go to that home page.

Now, stats not available and the "match centre" is a link to PlayHQ

genuinely ****ing abysmal

I guess the point is would this guys go earlier in an open pool. If the Roo’s could take Naicos/Darcy do they go pick 1?

Do Uwland/Washcroft go 1 in open drafts? There’s a decent matching difference that high. A 1-2 pick drop is pretty beneficial to the matching team.

I think you will find teams may match less now with requiring multiple picks to do so

Is Cody Walker at pick 2 more valuable than say picks 4 + 18?

Furthermore, this ability to match, especially for teams with multiple top prospects will be more challenging than ever before.

SANFL App not too bad. Live scores, player & team stats etc. If subscribed you get the live game footage and pretty good commentary.
SA seem to have their shit together regarding their pathways and provide excellent coverage for their prospects.
Yep, fancy the SANFL with their meagre budget completely obliterating the AFL with their $Billion dollar budget regards the junior pathway. The AFL has become a complete and utter shitshow under Dillon, not that it was much better under the previous leadership anyhow. Coates Talent League App had it's glitches but this AFL App is a complete no show regards live streaming.

Think it depends on the draft tbh.

2018 where there was an insanely good top group that was hard to get into maybe……2024 that had crazy depth, probably 2 picks would be better.

I assume aligned players will either refuse or deliberately tank interviews and refuse medicals. Something needed to be done but the AFL have overcorrected imo.

In between those two in my view. Cochrane and Walker project better than Duursma. Few good talls as well.

Will be a long time before we see a draft as deep as 2024.
wait til you see the 2027 crop ;)

I also wonder if draftees will start stating their preference out loud now. Like Cody Walker could also openly state "pick me at your own peril, I'll be at Carlton at the end of my first contract or earlier if a trade option opens up".

He's not telling them to skip him but just making it clear drafting him doesn't give any guarantees he'll stay.

This is exactly what will happen imo.

It’s why what happens with Cochrane/Pilot will be interesting.

If Port can’t afford to match a bid at pick 1 do say the Eagles place the bid? They are giving up a prime pick for a couple year rental of a player most likely. Especially in the case of Cochrane where him and his family have spent years trying to get him aligned to Ports NGA.

I think that clubs will just match. We saw it with Carlton and Dean this year.

They wouldn’t risk annoying such a prized asset by not picking them.

The scenario I mean is what if they don’t have the points plus deficit? If they try to trade and teams just say no we want to pick and they are unable to accumulate the points.

I don’t think it’s a scenario that is likely but it’d be interesting to see what happens. It’d only be a scenario if Butters stays, Port can’t trade our F1 because of the aligned players in the 27 draft.

Yeah not sure about that. I think they know that their entire crop for the next couple years is contigent on Butters leaving. Maybe Bergman? Who knows

Probably stronger at the top end but not as deep. They’ll all be off to Tassie.
I think you'll be surprised at the depth. Tassie or not. Just look at all the bottom agers on lists.
Could be 80+ draftable prospects.

Arki Butler 26 disposals 4 goals

Cody Templeton 23 disposals 4 goals

Cody Walker 28 disposals 2 goals

Wil Malady 6 goals

HVH 19 disposals 2 goals 20 hitouts

Noah Williams 23 disposals

Harrison Chapman 30 disposals

Good start in the Talent League for all the bigger name prospects.

Would add from SA

Kodah Edwards 24 disposals 4 goals

Ethan Herbert 28 disposals 16 hitouts (7 clearances and 3 contested marks too!)

Yeah sorry should’ve clarified was just mentioning the Vic boys!
Yeah course mate, no knock just adding to the info! Keen for the first pre season WAFL colts game soon between East and South Fremantle(s). Few good boys running around there, would have loved to see Claremont early too.

You know that we are in week 4 of preseason colts
