List Mgmt. 2026 AFL Draft

2026 we should get another 2 quality kids with a top 4 pick and another inside 30
That should just about complete our need for top end juniors.
End of 2026 hopefully we have 1-2 maybe even 3 free agents we could welcome to the club that are role players

Baku Khamis could be a good replacement for Broad
Sam Walsh playing on a wing and has nice speed and leafership
Max Knobel a father son for Richmond , will be 22 year old 206 cm Ruckman
Ned Reeves - If Nank gets a bad injury and we need a 3-4 year replacement as a 27 year old
Zak Butters would be a dream but can we turn his head away from the dogs

Hotton isn’t a pure mid. Will spend a lot of time forward. Ditto Lalor (not sure he has the hamstrings to be a full time mid). Smillie I have genuinely put a line through. Won’t make it. Bust. Grlj is a back flanker. KMac won’t make it - VFL player. Cumming is a hybrid.

We need at least two more star mids.
Still not over Robey i see.

Stars of the future: 10 draft prospects to watch in 2026 - https://www.afl.com.au/news/1451032

Was wondering how soon this would come out.

Van Dyk missed Academy but Twomey has him in his 10 to watch.

Injuries permitting think SA win again next year and we could be fishing in that pond again 🤔
Is he mates with kellaway?

So let’s be realistic, who is Richmond likely to pick?
1 - Walker/cochrane
2 - Walker/cochrane
3 - WCE: butler?
4 - ESS: ?
5 - Rich: ?

Just hypothetically saying we finish 3rd last which I would call a thumbs up

Mind you there is every chance we actually finish last..
Noah Williams

Lalor, Smillie, Robey, McAullife - a lot of the same type, heavy, big bodied mids.

We've got a perfect balance now - very happy to take a guy rated 2 or 3 spots behind consensus to achieve that.

Seth, Hotton, cumming, Grlj, NRT a lot of the same type there too for 1 small midfield spot.

Also I’m not counting versatility because you obviously didn’t either.

In todays edition of tigs pumps up an SA prospect we have Memphis Webb from North Adelaide, 184cm midfielder.

Did an ACL round 2 of the SANFL 18s but looks like hes got the athletic profile and ability to be a top end pick. He had a running vert of 95cm.

Round 1 he had 32 & 1 goal and was BOG for the Roosters over Cumming.

Played 1 game as a bottom bottom ager in 2024 for 12 & 2 goals.

In under 16s he had a few ridiculous games and averaged 27.4 disposals and 1.9 goals.

34 & 5.3
42 & 3

They aren't going to have a problem matching Walker with theirs and Sydneys First round picks, + Norths and another 2nd rounder, + 2 3rd rounders.

And they certainly wouldn't trade a top 3 draft pick, and another first rounder for him lmao.
You can only use 2 picks to match from 2026, if both Sydney & Carlton make the 8 next year, they may not be able to get him. I'm sure Voss will be going all out to save his coaching career as well.

Looks to be listed at 176cm & yeah he played a fair bit on the wing for Falcons with stints in the middle.
Doesn't look your typical under 180cm mid though.
Plenty to like, quick an evasive type with good vision.
Always on the move at stoppages & tackles hard for his size.

Last year I was keen to see Grlj take the next with more inside work which he did, this kid gives me the exact
same feeling but quicker.
Yeah him and Butler are my early faves, although Fred was my fave last year so I won't hold my breath

Yep he's a beauty. Can seriously play.
He's one from the list of other SA boys that go under the radar as Dougie, AVD, Patterson & Edwards are seen as the main prospects and gain most of the attention.
He'll be a huge inclusion for SA come Championships time off the back of his knee injury.
SA has some seriously good talent coming through across the park. Mids, Ruck and KPP's.

Could be Neo because hes size of an ant too.

I went back and had a look at his stats, 23 and 3 goals in futures and averaged 19 throughout year at gippy. Height is gonna be the problem but geez that’s a fair game.

Anyway been thinking about guys I’m keen to watch next year that I noticed this year. Not many bottom agers played at champs this year from memory which is a bit odd and makes it harder to watch SA and WA boys but here’s my early to watch list.

Eastern
Knapp (my early fav and think fits our team perfectly) - mid
Devers - mid/hbf
Gillian - mid/hbf
Lawerence - ruck/forward
Spencer - mid
Chapman - wing/hf
Anotonellis - hf

As an aside ranges bottom agers all played in the granny, gonna be very good again.

Sandy
Butler - mid/forward
Teixeria (blanketed Grlj in the final) - mid
Bradly - KPD

Falcons
Pickett - KPF
Williams - wing/hff
Daffy - sf (only cos of f/s)

Power
Malady - 3rd tall forward
Templeton - mid/forward
Neo - small forward/mid

Dandy
Kennedy - mid/hbf
Szerszyn - 3rd tall intercept defender

Knights
Hvh - ruck
Houndsome the handsome - KPF/ruck (that 45m rightfoot snap in open play vs Calder was incredible)

Jets
Tippet - big mid
Miller - KPF who is still a bottom ager next year.

Bushies
Armstrong - small mid (nga)

Rebels, Calder and Pioneers didn’t really notice any bottom agers who weren’t already tied to other teams.

Others from interstate (and on tigs2010 recommendation.)

Van Dyk - mid/forward
Edwards - mid/forward
White - mid/forward
Herbert - ruck
Van Rooyen - ruck
Leys - f/s

WA again looks like a shallow group. Serious problems with development over there imo. SA keeps producing good players, Jackson is WAs only top 5 pick since 2012.

Likewise, I had Fred high up on my list this time last year.

Think we all did. Had a great futures game.

But really struggled with the academy, thought maybe cos he was forced out of midfield. But I’m just not sure he has a 2nd position and those games exposed that. Was still hoping he’d find something at champs, but he looked so slow as vs VC.

I wonder if bottom age WA players get overrated because they look good in wafl u/18s, but that seems a level below sanfl and well below CTL, and get exposed at champs.

If we are in a position to bid on walker and carlton aren't, is there a world where we would trade the pick and if so what sounds like a reasonable offer to trade that pick? Something like 2 firsts and 2 seconds?
Forget Walker. He'll 100% be at the Blues. They'll have the collateral. Stop wasting your breath or fingers. He's off the list.

Will be interesting to see how we manage it. I've seen a few comments saying the core of our rebuild is done but look at the possible changes coming next year:

Retirements: Lynch, Prestia, Broad, Vlastuin?

Possible delist depending on their years: Smith, Tresize, Sonsie, Rioli, Clarke, Fawcett, Lefau, Green

I probably would've taken at least one extra player this year or maybe two and cut a couple of the guys above. Going to have to hit FA and likely draft 6-7 players at minimum. I hope the 2026 draft will be good because we need it to be.

I'm not saying we will get walker, im asking the valuation of what the pick would be worth if we were in a position to get him and carlton might not have enough capital. If someway carlton win a final for example and Sydney make it deep into the finals, trying to assess what a top 3 pick may look like value wise via a trade.

Carlton has 2 x R1 picks next year, they'll be able to match any bid for Walker without worry. Port is an interesting one currently have 1 x R1 2 x R2 & 2 x R3 next year. Depending on how they tighten up the bidding process they may need to do some trading

I mean there is a worry, they wanted to move 9 and 11 to next year for a reason.

But I’ve already crossed him and Dougie off my list, in the Annable/Uwland basket of could give a shit.

Cant see us taking more than 6 or 7 kids next draft. Weve turned over 14/42 (33%) in 2 years. Another 7 takes us to 21/42 (50%). Ive excluded Gray from these figures as hes older.

We should be starting to get an idea on holes we need to fill even if its a Houli/Grigg type trade or a cheaper level FA to compliment the kids.

This should probably be our last draft and the year after our 27-29 picks should be on the table to bring a star kid or 2 from 22-25 drafts home (Reid x 2, CDT types)

Carlton wont make the 8 and have doubts about Sydney thats led by Cox also
hey i hope both play off in a GF and sydney smash them
