As ep said beautiful night. I'm on level 2 AFL members, great view.
I'll give it an early call for tonight's attendance. I'll go between 70K and 75K

Struggling for that. AFL level 4 is empty, ponsford level 4 is 40% full and Richmond reserved areas don’t look great at all. Still plenty of time tho.As ep said beautiful night. I'm on level 2 AFL members, great view.

Richmond vs Melbourne = 67,364
This is the floor of Anzac eve when Richmond are this poor. It’s not that bad and it was expectedLower than all but the first two ANZAC Eve clashes (and a Covid affected one).

Hmm, doesn't seem like the AFL team will need a $1 billion+ stadium to attract a crowd does it.Over 13,000 are expected for Tasmania's VFL match against Carlton at Bellerive tomorrow night. Would be huge!
On the contrary, its proving why a new stadium without delay was imperative.Hmm, doesn't seem like the AFL team will need a $1 billion+ stadium to attract a crowd does it.
It shows that Bellerive's capacity is too small to host an AFL team. And with limited room for expansion, a new stadium was required.Hmm, doesn't seem like the AFL team will need a $1 billion+ stadium to attract a crowd does it.
And yet they are only making the new stadium 23,000.It shows that Belleville's capacity is too small tho host an AFL team. And with limited room for expansion, a new stadium was required.
Will be an absolute relief watching a game down there and not having to endure the game impacted by the conditions. Or worse still, being subjected to the commentary about how windy it is.On the contrary, its proving why a new stadium without delay was imperative.
And they barely got that over the line. Ridiculously shortsighted. And yet they are only making the new stadium 23,000.
23,000 seats plus 1,500 standing room, so 24,500. Expandable to 30,000 in future, but in my opinion it should be built to that capacity straight away. And yet they are only making the new stadium 23,000.
After seeing the capacity constraints at Optus for both the Eagles and Freo, I totally agree.23,000 seats plus 1,500 standing room, so 24,500. Expandable to 30,000 in future, but in my opinion it should be built to that capacity straight away.
An AFL team needs more than a 13,000 crowd in its typical home game to be able to operate though [excluding AFL investment], so even your characterising a 13,000 crowd as "a crowd" in an AFL context is not even correct anywayHmm, doesn't seem like the AFL team will need a $1 billion+ stadium to attract a crowd does it.
I reckon that 92.2k is kinda disappointing because Anzac Day should always be pushing 95k given how quickly tickets sell out and they sell unused member seats for this game. BU as mentioned above Saturday doesn’t help.No doubt the usual “Why do Essendon deserve an Anzac Day game” incoming…
Future Crowd killer performance this!
Being a Saturday impacts the crowd. Community footy and sport is on today and that has a small impact. Same goes for the MCC walkup. It just takes an edge off the turnout. It might only be 1,500-2,000 in total but it explains why the crowd was 92,231 and not 94-95k. If this game was a public holiday yesterday, it probably draws 94-95k again. The demand for seats and level of reselling on the Bomber community pages was highest I can remember.I reckon that 92.2k is kinda disappointing because Anzac Day should always be pushing 95k given how quickly tickets sell out and they sell unused member seats for this game. But I don’t think any sane person has said that Essendon should lose Anzac Day. You get 90k every time it’s your home game even when you are awful. No other side has any claim to this game.
92,231 @ the G today.
They deserve a medal. They’ve drafted well the last 3 years. I’m pretty confident this young group are the best 8-9 kids at Essendon in 20 years. Just have to put up with these crap days for a bit longer. Unfortunately today was one of those bad days young teams have (as you would be acutely awareEssendon do not deserve their supporters/members.
Any other club in their position for the last 21 years we’d be contemplating folding, yet they turn up, turn up and turn up.
To be commended really. God help us when they get it right.
