You have to think the revenue model is going to be demand outweighs supply seats significantly - reserved seats are an absolute premium and will be for the upper of the middle class up.

Going to be locking out a large amount of interested fans/ general punters every single week.

it’s like when you go to Optus - While west coast have the wait list, the Freo crowds are far more rowdy and fun. Same for Port in Adelaide.

Will be interesting to see how many tickets they make available for non-members to purchase when the new stadium is up and running. In addition to non-members, there will be plenty of punters from the opposing teams wanting to visit as well.

A sleeping giant. Bit like Richmond a decade or so ago. When Essendon do get it right, I hope they play at least another 2 home games at the MCG to capitalise on it

Easily the biggest sleeping giant in the league. Were uncompetitive for 3/4 of last year and still drew 1,000,000 through the gates.

I think we need to settle on the Devils. Same thing happened when the Devils were in the VFL back in 2006/07 (and drew 6,000 to 8,000 to VFL games).

The challenge for the Devils will be once they are in comp and if they struggle on the field in the first three years they are mostly in Launceston.

Biggest H&A crowds of all time:
  • 1). Melb vs Coll (99,256) = 1958
  • 2). Coll vs Ess (95,179) = 2023
  • 3). Coll vs Ess (94,825) = 1995

Hopefully, somehow, we can squeeze another 90k in this year and beam on twenty 90,000+ H/A crowds!

I think they have a 5 year buffer to be good.

As people criticised a reason for not putting in tassie is there was nothing to do, I think the crowds will be the opposite.

It will be the only thing to do.

New stadium, new team, new toys. Should hold up for the novelty factor alike for a couple or until they are half decent.

Agreed. It also helps that Tasmania is a destination for travellers.

Way back in 2011 the Suns almost drew 20,000 to their 11 home games and sold out Carrara half a dozen times. The new stadium will be a destination venue and should see large numbers of travellers making the trip to Hobart to watch the games (that’s the business case for the team after all).

It’s just a shame for the Devils that they won’t be playing most of their games in Hobart for the first few years which is a far more desirable and attractive destination relative to Launceston.

Public holiday in NSW on Monday. No NRL game to go up against.

Where are the Swans and Giants playing this round?

Victoria and ACT.
It'll be a long time before they schedule us in NSW over a public holiday. Since I've been following since 2023 they seem to actively avoid it.

Didn’t NSW only confirm Monday would be a public holiday a month or so ago? Bit hard to blame the AFL on that one.

To be fair it wasn’t a public holiday in NSW when the fixture came out.

There is a lot of debate around whether there should be a replacement public holiday for Anzac Day and I am sure AFL football is not part of that discussion, but if it was a holiday tomorrow it would be a great opportunity for two clubs other than Collingwood and Essendon to have a big public holiday match this weekend.

You are both correct but with our club they seem to actively avoid public holidays which is interesting given they've scheduled us against Gold Coast before a Qld public holiday.

It was announced in Feb, but next year the ANZAC public holiday will be on Monday as well (already announced). Hopefully it gets thought about.

I can’t remember the last time the AFL has scheduled a game on a public holiday that is not also a public holiday in Victoria.

But with Fox often having the exclusive rights to Sunday night games, there is probably no reason why it couldn’t.

Definitely should be considered.

If Melbourne didn't lose Queens birthday or Carlton Round 1 or North Good Friday then Essendon should never lose Anzac day.

In fact Dogs off good friday the exception 😂

They don't schedule day games for state specific public holidays. Only exception is Kings Birthday, which isn't a holiaday in WA or QLD.

If they do try to take advantage of it, they'll play a game in Sydney on the Sunday night to take advantage of the day off the following day.
