I’m not sure these are confirmed. I think they said that’ll be at a later date?
Other groups have unconfirmed venues, but the host country groups I think are locked in.

For example, if you were heading to San Francisco a few days before our final game, there is a game on the 22nd, but it is not yet confirmed which teams will be playing as they are from a different group (I assume the cities will determine which ones they want).

There’s no real Group of Death.
Netherlands, Japan, Tunisia, Albania/Poland/Sweden/Ukraine looks like the hardest
Too many teams at the tournament. Barely gonna be worth watching till the knockouts and I read the top 4 seeds can't draw each other before the semi finals anymore either

Yeah no group of deaths as far as 3 really strong teams.

As a lower ranked side you were best off avoiding Brazil/Morroco, Portugal/Columbia, England/Croatia or Spain/Uruguay. Maybe Netherlands/Japan or Belgium/Iran in the next tier down.

I don't see how there's huge joy here. USA in America probably smash us, then Paraguay which is tough and then if Turkey get through they'll smash us aswell

My joy comes from wanting the USA in our group and it’s happened. If we don’t make it through the group, so be it.

We aren't good. That doesn't mean our actual group is incredibly tough once you discount that we suck. Ending up with any of the above pairings I mentioned would be more difficult.

USA may smash us but you’d be more certain of that happening against nearly every other team in pot 1.

The best chance for us was to get a host nation, and we got one.

All things being equal, I expect England to top Group L. For Scotland, having to face Brazil is a strange sort of poetry, considering they faced Brazil the last time they qualified. Beyond that, I think they might actually progress beyond the group stages for the first time.

Fair. If it was the 2006 Australia team id think we win the group, even the 2010 team.

I think turkey as a 4th team is horrible though they have the talent to make it far

Sad that we can look at our group for this World Cup and say comfortably that the 2006 squad would pick up 9 points. In 2026, there is no game I would say the current squad will go in as favourites.

32. So you have to be at least the 8th best team finishing in 3rd spot (if not 1st or 2nd in your group).

Seems like a doddle to get through to the next round, although this is where another group with an easybeat 4th placed team can give the 3rd placed team a better chance to get through with just one big goal difference win.

Paraguay finished 6th in the South American group (CONMEBOL) but only Argentina were the runaway leaders 9 pts clear on 38pts. Ecuador 2nd on 29, then the next 4 teams Colombia, Uruguay, Brazil & Paraguay all finished on 28pts. Paraguay only scored 14 goals from 18 games, but they only let in 10 goals.

That can work both ways though. They may also have a significantly better team from pot 1.

When you are an average side like us, every group is going to look tough. Hopefully we can pinch a win and go through to the next stage but odds would be on us finishing last in most groups including this one.

Looks like some are locked in. Us being in a hosts group means we can work out when and where we’ll be playing.

We beat Denmark last time and drew against Tunisia when nobody expected it. We got past Peru to make that WC. Before that we’ve beaten Serbia. Lost recently to US 2-1.

Plus third may be enough to get through

Will watch (pending times) Aus and Porqo games but like you said way too many teams - i thought World cups are meant to be the best of the best and not a #metoo participation event…although will be interesting to see if any 'upsets' eventuate
