Don'

Don't put anything past what the goose will do

He will probably end up lifting the trophy at the World Cup final instead of the captain of the winning nation lol.

And you thought dockland parking was expensive

LA is set to host eight matches in the World Cup, including two involving the US national team and a quarterfinal — games expected to draw major crowds. Parking for those high-demand matches is priced at $420, while the remaining LA games are listed at $360.

Lower-tier match tickets for the cup are expected to fetch less than $285.

If a fan wanted to attend a Category 3 match — a lower-priced seating tier typically located in the upper level — they would pay under $200 for the ticket, but $360 just to park, according to The Athletic.

That's a good deal.

How much of the $420 is a trump tariff?

Those prices would be for parking right at the stadium. There are several other car parks within walking distance that would be cheaper.

Or you could get public transport for about $5 that will get you in and out of the stadium complex faster than by car - and have the experience of mingling with fans.

There were reports that Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold paid more in tax than he gained in earnings from winning the Super Bowl due to California's 'Jock tax' which taxes athletes up to 14.6% on top of federal taxes.

There are several WC 2026 games scheduled for California so I wondered if the situation would apply to highly paid players from outside the US. As far as I can tell most countries have a tax credit arrangement for US federal taxes. It gets more complicated when you consider US state taxes.

Why would he pay tax in California? He gets paid in Seattle and lives in Seattle so he pays whatever tax applies in Washington State which to my knowledge Washington State doesn't charge income tax. His earnings for winning the Superbowl are nothing more than contract bonuses anyway. If he were to pay tax in California then players would pay tax in the state they play their away games in any given season which would be completely ridiculous.

USA has launched an unprovoked military attack on Iran. Strangely FIFA hasn't banned them like they did with Russia.

Iran is due to play New Zealand and Belgium in LA then Egypt in Seattle. It remains to be seen if those fixtures will happen and which country might replace Iran.

In all serious the world cup needs to be cancelled this year for the safety of the players and the fans there as I'm sure iran or people sympathetic to iran will target games invovling the US and its allies.

This even going ahead with Iran being bombed?

FIFA has a role here. You can’t not have Iran, going through the process of a hard 3-4 year qualification and say no you don’t qualify, as you’re the ‘attacker’.

Yugoslavia pulled out of the Euros that Denmark won.

This'll go ahead, but I truly reckon some unfortunate shit will go down. A political statement of some sort by someone.
