It's a wonderful word isn't it..."estimated".

He stays fit, assumes the captaincy, hits all his triggers, wins 3 flags and 5 B&Fs then yeah, it's probably gonna get him over 10 million. And we'll be bloody happy with the price.

If he misses seasons then I'm sure the number would be a good deal lower.

Im sure that number is in the ball park, it was always gonna cost that kinda money to keep him.

1.25 mill per year is what players like Walsh are gonna be worth going forward, he could have got more from the Saints and more still if he went to Tassie.
I don’t have a problem with that figure.

Is that $1.25m fixed or is it tied to a percentage of the salary cap? As in, if the salary cap rises, will his salary rise with it?

Think we just signed him via the SSP ;)

Derksen will fill a gap down back with HOF rehabbing, Haynes under a cloud, McGovern playing looser and Dean developing.

But once Haynes returns, and if Dean settles into a role quickly, I think Derksen will give Kemp a genuine run for his money as our second tall forward.
McGovern playing looser than he already does? Didn’t realise that was possible…

Most those big contracts are indexed to the cap. I suspect so has Walsh
indexed as a fixed percentage of our salary pool. Suspect it will come out but i was under the impression the club were trying to move to the essendon model - that is salaries are fixed, not linked to increases. Bonuses on the other hand...

8 years for a player with a history of injuries and an average kick is silly.
Contract length is meaningless imo. Players can and will seek a trade during the contract term and clubs are willing to part ways for the right trade. This is more about the optics that where we’ve had players walk because the $$$ were too good to refuse, or because they’ve cracked the sads like a child despite during the term of a contract, or because they’re a nepo baby and daddy has secured a nice contract despite the club having kept the faith when they’ve been far from durable, we have a premier player that’s prepared to sign on long term and help us get back into contention

Not Carlton related but Port are about to present Butters with a monster offer.

The AFL will be so pissed off if it's only Ben King and Zac Bailey as free agents, what will afl.com.au & sen talk about?

Fall back on their usual tactic: threatening to pull Port’s funding whenever a decision doesn’t suit them

Not sure the Power's offer of Port Admiral Hotel vouchers will be enough to ward off the Dogs, but good luck to them.

(funnily enough, was speaking to someone that worked closely with a few Dogs boys and they were very confident of ZB making his way to the sons of the West)
