What are peoples thoughts on Murphy Reid?

Will be more heavily in the mid rotation this year, probably doesn't even need it though to score. Trained near 100% mid in preseason.

Only issue is how do you fit them all in although I think he will be 4th in line in front of Bolton with Erasmus and Johnson doing more wing.

Moderate chance of a forward keeper which is why he's in my team. As a stepping stone the price is probably too much.

I was actually more tempted by Erasmus as his improvement each year has gradually increased.

Teams like Freo are hard to pick anything but full time mids or defenders.

i could see M.Reid averaging 90’s but doubt he is going to break the 100pt average point.

He could hold a spot up forward until some big names might get Forward DPPnlike say Bont, Merrett, Roma etc and use him as a stepping stone.

But even with named Forwards he is not in my top 8 ranked players there.

You would be better to play a rookie forward and place that cash in the Defence or midfield on a midpricer.

Or a smokey I couldn’t fit in my side but wanted to get, Riley Sanders. Think he will go well this season as long as he stops banging his head against other players.

Erasmus tempted me too but I think the price is too awkward with the risk. I'm pretty confident Murphy is going to be a top 10 forward or near enough come end year.

Ok so Jagga did what we thought he could do and spat out a great score.

Now I know it is early, probably way too early to be changing team structure after weeks if not months of research and planning.

But I just can’t let that score slide on the bench, it’s too good and most will have it onfield.

So I have a contingency plan to get him onfield and have a future upgrade already done for Round 2 onwards (who is also a very low owned differential).

I didn’t want to do this til after the round but I doubt many would copy my mad side.

Current Team (Team name may change or not):

My thought is to trade in a non-playing midfielder to capture Jagga’s score. Reading reports, Rankine sounds like the perfect option, saying he is flying. It’s risky but what isn’t in this game. Also one less early bye player to cover in upcoming rounds.

I have to make a sacrifice from another player, so who should it be. With DPP I have many to choose from. What I am thinking is chopping Zorko (even though I love having that little bugger in my side), move Sinclair to DEF and Rozee to FLEX (good DPP cover) and bring Rankine into MID. Rankine should be back next week (shouldn’t he?), I also think he could be a forgotten top 6 forward, atleast until we get some DPP changes.

Now all this rambling over what could only be a 30-40 point loss this early (after the first game) could be silly, bordering on ridiculous.

But this leads onto my second problem which is I didn’t start GRLJ who I had all preseason but as my team shows I reduced a lot of rookies for midpicers and he didn’t make the cut. I think he may be a neccesary correction trade, toss up between him and Sharp, so I meed a couple of bucks in the bank to facilitate it if I go that way.

So sorry for the long winded post on what should be a simple choice of do or don’t do move. But asking for advice on decision.

Team will then look like this barring any changes to team selections Friday evening.

Give this man a standing ovation - this is how to do MPM!

I didn't have the balls to go this mad, but I'm quite keen to see how this plays out.

dabombers please keep up with this madness and play out the season - keep all of us posted though :D

Cheers JuddgementDay I am beyond flattered, players like you have been my inspiration so I can’t take any credit.

I just got sick of template game style and trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Also on number analysis. Midfielders came out as most overpriced and more likely line to lose more dollars based off of starting costs. So I chose that whole line to pick off players as they present better value.

I just stumbled on this Frankenstein of a team as an antithesis to cookie cutter GNR teams.

It is going to be fun going into battle with a samurai sword when opponents have AK47’s.

juicy, but consider you're going to have to trade out a lot of those midpricers at some stage which affects your overall ability to trade up. how many of those choices do you anticipate will be in the top 6 by the point end of the season

NO EARLY DONUTS.

Especially Rookies.

That is my usual No.1 Rule.

Zorko was chosen as his output vs midfielders at same price is just better. But the little bugger is 37, and probably will not play every game this season. Either rest or injury.

So these considerations make him the only candidate for a switcheroo.

With the inclusion of Rankine (R1 donut to get Jagga Score), I honestly only think him, Petracca and Sheezel are going to end up top 6 Fwds.
I think the other 3 may come from mids getting Fwd DPP at Round 6.

Mids I only have 1 top 8, 5 boosts here.

Rucks a big zero.

Defenders I think I have 2 of the Top 6.

I think we see midpricers differently.
I have no attachment to them, only average scores and Breakeven matter.

I am unsure what you mean by “affects your overall ability to trade up”???

Midpricers don’t need to make $150K.

Read that again !!!

Midpricers don’t need to make $150K

Their value is already included in their inflated price over a rookie.

My markers are:

Tier 1 Midpricer
$400K+ doesn’t need to make any money just needs to hold value. Easiest 1 up 1 down to an Uber Premo. Or could become keepers.

Tier 2 Midpricer
$300K plus needs to make $100K.

Tier 3 Midpricer
$220K plus, making $150 would be nice but it depends if they are low $200K or high $200K. So this is a variable trading strategy for these guys. Maybe closer to rookies in a 2 Down, 1 Up.

The Aim for most incoming Premo trades is catch them when they fall below $550K.

Some may only have one chance at getting them when they fall to $590K so this is a timing battle. Players like Bont, Naicos, Butters etc. may only see one point in price cycle that they become available at this price. If you want them and don’t have them this is the only chance to jump on or miss out or pay top dollar killing other upgrades down the road.

Bank Cash from bench rookies !!

Just because you got it doesn’t mean you have to use it.

Building up an early $200K buffer and keeping it around that point til the midseason byes is gold.

It can mean 2 upgrades versus just 1, or getting that elusive Uber Premo.

Once you have rookies off the field.
Trade them bench rookies hard and first. New rookies will appear on the bubble and getting them is a higher priority than an upgrade.

Sorry again this was more than what you asked about cob but I had a spare 5 minutes.

They'll lose to the Suns by 100 points...

Correct, and Sunday night we'll all have forgotten about Jagga and be moaning about having Lombard's 110 on the bench...

You have him on the bench against wc?

I don't no. But looks about 50/50 overall.
(J. Smith on the other hand... 😭)

The point being for those thinking about a doughnut to get the 113 on field it's near on impossible to get everything right.
He was just as likely to get another score in the 60s.

My only win this week will be out cash ITBing you :) -
Actually Blakey,Fonti,Worrall,M Reid,Riccardi are wins I enjoyed.

Tossed in the towel early, had to trade out Humphrey and just kept going -510k ITB, maybe turf a couple of spuds this week, but where does that end ? have bench cover for all the byes, think I'll just play the long game and enjoy my 150k rank -'I shall return' :)

Already been giving the calculator a workout on players out $$$ vs players I want in $$$.

It is going to be hard to not be too reactionary.

Rookie correction trades come first, and it may be some midpricers down to rookies I missed.

I may have a bank like yours going into the byes.

Why does SuperCoach give us boosts if not to tempt us.

What are your goals in this game could/should depend on what you do

E.g
My goal is to have the best team i possibly can as quick as i can to
1. Win my league/s
2. have the highest ranking possible whilst doing that

I have Jagga on the bench holding hands with Sharp & Blamires and should have had him on the ground but sh!t happens and Butters , Daicos , Richards , Gulden , Parish ,Young , Bruhn , Coniglio just felt like they would score more at the time
All the above players have alot more experience and proven form than a kid playing his 2nd game coming of a 70 score

I just want a little smile here and there, Blakey and Worrall provided that this week, and dumping every Saint and Demon, Windhager was the last out today for Hamish Davies of all players, gets me some cash thou, and backing Hamish in, he can play, Not having Pou is a little win as long as Hamish can stay uninjured and score more.
Flanders, Gawn, Windhager,Windsor, Sinclair, TDK and Nas could still hurt with a Q to go, but not really, I've already been crapped on.

1-nil to GnR teams

That was a horrid week for us MPMers - but, we’ll shrug it off and carry on!

Maintain the faith - it can easily flip to our advantage in the coming weeks
:)

My mid-pricers

Windsor - 70

Windhager - 103
Young - 80
Parish - 93
Bruhn - 110

Ross - 101
Flanders - 104
Macdonald - 103

Happy with that. Young being played forward for basically the whole last quarter was frustrating. I believe his score went backwards in the 4th. Hopefully that doesnt become a regular thing. I dont mind him spending some time forward while getting match fitness back but its not a great sign that in a very close game he spent the whole last quarter out of position. Of my mid-pricers, he is probably the biggest - and maybe the only - worry, but i also think he still has massive potential so im not thinking about trading him any time soon.

The good thing about a midprice team is if Guns and Rookies is more viable you can just correct into it.

Then you get the actual best rookies on the bubble and haven’t missed all that much.

For instance this week I’m going early on Milan and turning Zach Johnson and Degoey into Milan and Rankine.

Gotta chase value and it’s much less risky doing it this way then the reverse

It's so hard to dump a premo to get rooks in , and even then you have to then go mid priced just to feel better

I think you would take 73 from Buderick and 70 from Windsor at that price.
They were just average imo and about 10-15 points short
But im keeping them all for a few more weeks as they all have good BE
hopefully they all add around 100k so i can get 4 premo's from them when traded as i dont see more than 2 to be keepers amongst them which would be a good result
