Training 2026 Pre Season Training Thread

I was suggesting Charlie is a player who has completely turned around an injury riddled career. Played just 15 games in 3 seasons due to a range of injuries including ligament damage. I remember pundits (one of them a former Bulldogs player who had had similar injuries) saying they doubted he would ever get back to his former promise. Then Charlie returned to have 2 All Australian seasons.

There was no reference to said player only having soft tissue injuries. I daresay there are numerous other examples of players returning to have golden years after extended injury issues. I wish AJ had been among them.

Gus Sheldrick missed most of 2024 with injury & is on track to win the Brownlow and Norm Smith this year.

Feel good stories of players overcoming adversity do happen.

There’s hope for Mills yet.

Today's session:

Oh dang, Dattoli is looking nuggety, he's been hitting the weights

Rosas looks lean, King looks like he needs another 5-10kg before he's AFL size, especially considering he's over 191cm. His leaping ability will help him get involved before he has that extra size I guess.

Have the people on here ever had an injury? I’ve had heaps from exercise and sports. I’d never criticise someone for getting an injury let alone question their character or leadership. It ****en sucks being injured and you never ask for it. Injuries happen when you put your body through pain not from sitting on your arse. It’s so easy to throw stones from the keyboard at someone who has done a hamstring but I guess it says more about them than Callum Mills.

To be fair, Nick Blakey looks like he still needs another 5-10kg before he's AFL size.

Picture 19 looks intriguing. From Dattoli's facial expression to Errol's body stance to the Cox arm between them, it looks as though maybe there was some heat in the exchange?

Shaun Burgoyne did it well

Mills is the highest paid player also on our list

I call BS on this. You think Mills is on more than Warner who signed for only 2 years last year? You think he is on more than Curnow? He signed in 2022 for 6 years and we are supposed to believe that he is now on 1.4+

What credible evidence do you have to suggest he is the highest paid player? Why make shit up?

Couldn’t give a **** what you think

I know he is

Curnow isn’t anywhere near him

Also Chad has other terms outside of money that made that deal happen

Mills is different and the frustration on him recounts back to when he busted his shoulder through his own stupidity and the flow on effect from that injury.

Who is to say the current injuries are not the result from that incident as it modified and change his usual training methods and no doubt introduced weakness to the lower body.

Anyways lets hope for a positive outcome this time

We need Mills to be at his best simple as that , no more ****ing about , he was solid last year imo. But we need his best to take the next step

Big Pre-season for Gussy Sheldrick and Caiden Cleary. Probably have to find a way to bust into the top 4 CBA rotation (especially Sheldrick).

We saw a brief run of this from rd10-15 for Gussy last year where he played some of his best footy

I haven’t seen too many throwing stones (well, maybe the odd one).
But most of the discussion has been centred on Mills & the captaincy (which I assume is the “leadership” you refer to).

I don’t really give 2 hoots who the captain is - but it’s a legitimate question given the amount of games Mills has missed.

I've already had my two bob's worth on the captaincy question but I have a further concern around his fitness and that's whether he is fit enough to play in the midfield or whether he becomes a very expensive half back flanker (a good one to be fair) but he would be so much more valuable as that AA midfielder we used to have. 🤞🤞🤞
