Fixture 2026 season

Nothing has worked out as predicted these past 5 years at this time of the year

By February this Board will have wound itself into such a frenzy that we’ll be all believing we have six AA and a streak about to unfold based on the Pre Season Thread hyperbole

You can see it unfolding right before your eyes in there atm

Be great to win more games next year but when you have 20 odd players in the 18-22 bracket a stern reality check is in order

Consistency in 2026 is what we need across every quarter in every game. Not go missing for 20 minutes and give up 5 goals. The W/L is just as irrelevant as last year until more games are put into this core group. For that to eventuate we are looking at what is going on in 2028-2030

Not me, I have absolutely no faith in our pre-season planning or conduct. We will get slaughtered round 1.

Maybe in previous years. We've been burnt enough now to know better than this

C'mon mate, the young blokes'll be up and about, new leaders, new oomph. When was the last time we played the tarpies in the 1st round? Was it Archers 250th or whatever, when Stevo lost both his legs over the summer but was determined to play for his mate and we beat those inbred fekkers?

Hi guys. Come in peace hoping for no drama. Respect you as a footy club. Gone through the mud but I’ve always enjoyed watching the brand of footy you play. Genuine question but crowd predictions for our R1 clash? Thinking of heading over. Genuinely hope both our clubs improve. Hopefully we can all agree that the competition is better with North and Port playing well. Cheers everyone. Hope for a great game in R1.

20k at least, 28k at most. JHF effect would theoretically bring more through the gates than usual, as we've been waiting for this fixture for a while, but North fans haven't exactly turned out in droves over the last few years either. I don't hope for a good game, I hope we smash you, but that's only natural

You're guaranteed a seat, we're only having AI crowds this year. Bring your brolly, it always rains. Leave your machete at home or you'll have to chuck it in one of the bins provided. If you're driving, and everything suddenly goes dark, keep going, you're just in a pothole. Expect one of yesterdays pies or a $12 plastic cupped mid strength drink. Bring some ear plugs as the crowd announcer w@nker likes the volume at 27.

Nah mate respect 🫡
After what happened with JHF you have every reason to want to smash us. Hope for a good game for 2-3 quarters then one of us gets away in the last quarter that’s what I hope but unlike some other port supporters I do wish for North to improve. Hope 2026 is a good year for you boys

Hmm this Port posting poster, it's not adding up.

Coming across as respectful and knowledgeable.

It's a trap isn't it 😜
Haha fair enough mate. I’ve been brought up to be respectful and have knowledge when you are speaking to other fans from other teams but generally hope both teams can improve next season. Like I said the AFL is a better competition when North and Port are playing well. Enjoy watching you play and I know some north fans hate us which honestly is fair enough but I genuinely hope for a good game.

You might as well tell him the bad stuff now.

Hey portpowerfan20040621, hard to predict the crowd size, take into account that its the first game, Jason playing, at Marvel Stadium finally, both supporter groups eager to see what their club bring to the contest, youngsters from both teams with another year in the system and the fact that on paper the two teams next year are matched up pretty close, you guys have Rozee, Butters, Horne-Francis, Farrell and young Joe Berry who is a very nice player.

On our side we have LDU, Xerri, McKercher, Wardlaw, O'Sullivan, Sheezel and Larkey and don't be surprised if Zane Duursma is not in that team, other senior players of course will chip in so it is going to be a very interesting game indeed. On the crowd, I'm guessing 25 to 28 thousand, midfield and forward opportunities will be the key, the backline for both teams will not be the strongest point of difference, key match ups will also be worth watching for.

I agree with your timeline.

Recent history shows (Dees and Lions as two and even Carlton who ultimately ****ed it up and are now back at square 1) it’s 4 seasons at least to go from your first genuinely improved season to a contender.

And as most of us would conclude, we haven’t had that first genuinely improved season yet. We have a long, slow grind ahead of us.

the rule changes for next season, last touch out of bounds, does that include spoiling? defenders (or any player really) who belt the ball out of bounds in a marking contest? and does it matter if that spoil goes over the boundary on the full, or if it bounces over the line?

No, just kick and handball between the two arcs.

Hahaha 🤣 I’m dumb but not that dumb. I’ll sit in a entire section by myself if I could so I could swear my head off and abuse players for making stupid mistakes :)
Oh now you're making fun of our attendance :-D

9 interstate trips plus our annual trip down the highway. We travel just as much as interstate teams without the reverse home ground advantage pay-off. This would cost even serious contenders 1 or 2 wins.

The AFL will always give us the arse end of the fixture. We got to stop doubling down on it by selling home games interstate.
